USC good enough for highly competitive jobs in biz?

Is USC for undergrad a good enough school for those really hard to get, high paying jobs like Investment Banking/Consulting and such?

That's sort of a subjective question, as everyone has different views of which schools are "good enough", but I'd say yes.

It made Business Week's Top 20 list.

bump bump bump

No. solid program, good alumni connections, but unless a USC grad is doing the hiring, those top jobs are going to students from harvard, yale, princeton, mit, caltech, duke, dartmouth, columbia, and wharton

Yes, USC (Marshall) students land extremely competitive jobs. Personally (I'm a USC alum), I had offers to do investment banking in both San Francisco and Los Angeles (I choose SF).

All of the major investment banks do recruit through USC on-campus recruiting, and most of the banks take at least a couple of students every year (this is includes both corporate finance and Sales & Trading). I know USC seniors (class of '07) that are starting work this summer with top-tier banks located everywhere from NYC to San Francisco to Hong Kong. Personally, I know seniors who will start working this summer for Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, BofA Securities, etc...

Most of the top consulting firms also recruit through USC on-campus recruiting (McKinssey is the only top firm that doesn't recruit at USC).

In addition, USC students also land high paying jobs in real estate development, and also in Hollywood.

what about consulting? Is it solid for recruiting in this field as well?

Most definitely! My brother is a USC alum and current consultant, and he received numerous offers while at USC. Firms such as Accenture come on the campus knowing that they are going to hire USC students.

I would think that the majority of the good positions are taken by Ivy graduates, Sloan graduates, Stanford graduates, etc.
USC will get a much smaller fraction of the positions at top firms I guess...

just like trackstar said, they have GREAT alumni connections. "once a trojan, always a trojan" alumni do a lotttaaa things for the new graduates, its so cool
