can anyone tell me about the usc/keck 8-year med program?

it's very hard to make

Hey! I'm in the program and it isn't very hard if you are what they are looking for. First, they want well-rounded individuals who have passions outside of becoming a docter. Second, they want to see that you really know what you want and you aren't afraid to go for it be it art, music, or biochemical engineering. Strong SAT and GPA gets you an interview and after that, what you do at the interview decides your fate. Hope that helps.

tobetrojan, do you mind posting your stats?

upon acceptance, is one obligated to stay for medical school? im afraid that i won't want to stay in once place for soooo long or its possible that in 4 yrs i wont want to be a doctor anymore.

hey!- im in the program too- and the reason WHY i chose it is because it's nonbinding :)! (which is really awesome) they do realize that you might find out that medicine is not the right path for you. Also, you can apply to other colleges if you decide that you want a change in location or whatever :).

My stats:

SAT: 1550
SAT II: Math II: 800, Writing: 780, Biology: 710
GPA: 3.9 (unweighted)

Want to know anything else? Glad to help! :D

do you know anyone who has sats around 1400s?

i second that request

also, i heard you still have to take the MCATs....is it true?
if so, what is the difference between the program and just doing regular undergrad at USC

My best friend here had a 1440 on her SAT and not a perfect GPA and she got in. btw...yes, we have to take the MCATs but we only need a 27 on it which if you can't get then you should be applying to med school because most med schools especially USC wants MCAT scores around 34.

is it true that once you're granted an interview, your stats dont really matter anymore? all that matters are your extra curric's, passions, character, etc?

Kindof. After you get an interview what you say in the interview will overweigh anything else because that's when they get to see what kind of person you really are.
