Hey guys. I heard the USC program is a bit different from the other med programs in the sense that you don't need as much (if any, correct me if I'm wrong) medical experience.
What specifics do they look for and recommend? average SAT/ACT score and SAT II scores(any subjects)?
Since it is a private school, its also quite expensive but many students get scholarships.

Yeah, if you get a spot in their Bacc/MD program, you're extremely likely to obtain at least a half-tuition scholarship. That's what I've seen anyways.

As for medical experiences, they may ask you to talk about them in your interview, but they're not expecting you to log 500 hours of hospital volunteering or do cutting-edge clinical research. Just show that you have given the career of a physician some serious thought.

usc totally encourages students to learn about other things outside of medicine, so even if you dont have much medical experience you may be able to get in. of course, you need to show interest in becoming a doctor, but as long as you have the passion and are also open to new experiences, you should be fine

I think they take a serious look at how well-rounded you are and how well you fit in with the USC community.

anybody in the program? How's the experience at USC? I'm from Norcal so i've been to LA lots of times and love the weather (but not the smog lol nor traffic, but gas prices are cheaper in LA than those of SF)

I think most students bacc/md's get scholarships, but definitely not all.

Also, I'll be attending USC in the fall, and I love USC and Bacc/Md.

I've met a couple who didn't, but it all depends on what your major is, because the scholarships are doled out through the specific school. Like LAS probably had a generous amount of full-tuition scholarships to give out, but I got one through Annenberg and they only gave out 7 total.

As for the experience at USC, from what I've had so far it's totally unmatched. Hands down the most I could have gotten out of a university.

what are the minimum applicant requirements?
(GPA and SAT)

there are none to apply.

but to actually stand a chance im not sure. iirc, the average SAT was around 2200 for them?

as far as GPA, like all med programs, u should have as close to perfect as possible.

Yeah, the GPA has to be pretty close to top notch, because it seems like that's what they take a serious look at when they're deciding who they want to and don't want to bring back for an interview.

As for SAT/ACT, I really don't think there's even an accurate average because a lot of people were all over the board. Like I got a 36, but my friend got <2000 on her SAT and we still both got in, lol.

aa6590- thank you for the info!

ppenguin757- wohhh... that's pretty awesome that your friend got in w/ a SAT <2000...shows that people are more interested in character of a candidate vs. stats! (I seriously would not have brought the argument otherwise)
Thanks!=D
