Dear X
I hope you will consider applying for admission to the University of Southern California.

....

It ends with:
We hope you bring your talents to the University of California, and we all look forward to working with you and your family during the admission process.

Does everyone get this letter? I REALLY need to know

High school seniors on their mailing list get the letter. They want you to apply (the more applications, the lower the admission rate, the higher the perceived selectivity/desirability). It means no more, no less.

Posterguy, I’m chucking at the last line. I really don’t think USC wants you (or any great applicant) to bring their talents to a UC (University of California). Otherwise, as alamemom wisely mentioned above, this is a follow up sent to applicants who may have started their CA application or in other ways have indicated an interest in applying to USC.
