This was in AM paper: USC is looking at a possible 6.9% tuition hike (recommended by USC executive committee). Would increase campus safety, expand academic success center programs, improve access for students with disabilities, hire new faculty, etc. If approved, would bring in-state tuition to $4,173 per semester, OOS would be $10, 816 per semester.
The whole thing hinges on the SC legislature approving the state budget. Right now, lawmakers are gridlocked on some dept. of transportation issues. In 2 weeks, the legislature will reconvene (sp?) and try to pass a new budget by July 1st. (Welcome to SC!! LOL!!)

Thanks for the post.
I will check my local paper for the article.
I am new to this tuition waiting and am surprised parents and students have to wait until the middle of summer to find out the amount. Is this how it is everywhere?
I was also surprised by the $60 charge for tuition payments using a credit card. Ouch!!! Guess I will be mailing in my payment.

they can't set tuition rates until they(the University) pass a recommendation and the state passes a budget.Usually you'll know sometime towards end of June,or July.It was the same when D went to school in Arizona.
Its a rare year when you dont get a tuition hike.

Interesting to see how much is being proposed to increasing campus safety (about $560,000)
with more call boxes, surveillance cameras and a full-time staff member devoted to emergency preparedness. Although what happened at Virginia Tech was an absolute tragedy sometimes it takes drastic events to compel change. I told my then 17 year old daughter that some real changes were going to occur in campus safety after the fact and no college is ever too overly prepared.
