Tuition bills are posted

Just noticed where the tuition and fees have posted today on VIP. (No rush on that one!) LOL!

if anyone new to USC needs help figuring out how to apply financial aid to the bill or otherwise use VIP just let me know!

During orientation USC mentioned that they were increasing tuition. Does that apply to the 2007-2008 year? The implication was that it did. But how can they raise the tuition after incoming freshmen have decided which school to accept, sometimes based on cost?

All schools generally have a 7-8% increase in tuition. The cost for the 2006-2007 school year was a rough estimate for us, not an exact figure of what we have to pay.

Also, since state schools depend on state funding, the schools don't really know how much money they will have until the state finalizes the budget. That process happens in the summer. That's why tuition bills don't post until July. In reality, you have to assume that tuition will likely go up 7 to 8 percent every year. Sometimes the SC Life scholarship goes up too, but it didn't this year.

Hi, my husband and I were just going through the paperwork on the loans. Your offer could not have been more timely!

Our daughter received a Sallie Mae for a small amount that I am assuming once she does the tutorial she will be all set for that? The other, larger loan, we don't seem to be able to figure out what to do. Should we have gotten a paper that we would have to had signed? Or, does that money just get put in? Any and all info would be appreciated. We are new to this and very confused and overwhelmed.

Thanks.

Cece,
I don't know much about that process, but I did find a section under the USC Financial Aid page that may help. It is the FAQ section, and it has tutorial links for Stafford, Perkins, etc. It also mentions about signing a Master Promissory Note online and it has steps to guide you through applying financial aid to your bill. Also, on this same FAQ page if you click on "How do I use my financial aid to pay my fees ?" there is a section about PLUS disbursements. (Some are paper checks, etc.) Here's the link:

I'm sure there are a lot of parents trying to wade through the financial aid scenario. Don't feel bad about calling and asking for clarification. Everyone at USC has been super helpful to me whenever I've had any type of question.

I was going to recommend the same q&a section of the financial aid pages to you that Greenville did...
we havent had a loan at USC as part of the fin aid package but all our paperwork was able to be completed online (at USC and other schools where loans were involved) so I'm assuming this paperwork can be as well.If the q&a can't answer your q's,give the office there a call...they are very friendly and accommodating.
