USC Musical Theatre Program/Acting for Stage, Screen, and New Media

I’m applying for the Musical Theatre BFA that is new this year at the University of Southern California, and I had a few questions. If anyone could comment anything they know about them, that would be great!

  1. Is anyone else here applying for it too? Do you know if a large amount of people are applying because it is new?
  2. I was also considering applying for the Acting for Stage, Screen, and New Media BFA (and minor in Musical Theatre), because I heard it is easier to get in to than the MT program. (I know the pre-screen videos are due soon, I have them ready to submit, but haven't yet.) Does anyone know if this is true? You aren't allowed to list either of these majors as a second choice.
  3. How hard is it to get financial aid/scholarships for these programs, or for USC in general (my family is lower middle-class)?
  4. How many musicals does USC produce a year?

Thanks a million!!!

Didn’t even know about the new MT major, cool! Sorry I can provide more info, but thanks for letting us know about it. I’d say go for it and apply!

I told DS about it, who applied to SCA, and his face lit up. If he gets in, he’d love to take some classes. We’ll research the minor and course catalog.
