Can anyone tell me about narrative studies at USC? Love the interdisciplinary options at USC, but would like to know more about how popular, how rigorous the narrative studies major is? How large/small are classes? What is advising like at USC for someone interested in cross-displinary study, including theater and music. How hard for non-theater majors to audition for plays? Student is comparing programs at USC, Duke and UVA.

Hope someone responds to this thread since my daughter has also been accepted as a narrative studies major.

I’m a current theatre B.A. freshman at SC. The theatre program is amazing, and you can audition for most things without being a theatre major. There are tons and tons of student plays and films as well to get involved in, never a shortage. I am considering adding the Narrative Studies major. I’m not exactly sure the major’s size, but since there are no actual “narrative studies” classes, you are taking classes with lots of other majors. Classes at USC are generally pretty small, just google “USC course schedule,” first link, and check out some of the courses there, they tell you how many people are in them. Advising is through the interdisciplinary part of Dornsife. If you have any other questions let me know.
