USC National Merit Dilemma

I just received the Trustee scholarship and I'm excited to be a Trojan next year! I just have a quick question about my National Merit Finalist status...

I received the $2500 National Merit Scholarship, but from what I've researched USC gives out a $1000/yr scholarship for all NMF's. So if I accept the $2500 would I be denied the $1000/yr, or would they be combined?

Thanks for the help!

are you giving up your Harvard admission?

I dont believe you can have two national merit scholarships. The trustee scholarship covers your national merit attributes while giving you the token 1000.

You only receive the $1000. The $2500 is an external scholarship but when you tell the National Merit people that you are going to USC, they don’t give you that $2500 anymore and instead, USC gives you an extra $1000. This is because USC offers half tuition scholarships to anyone who is a national merit finalist. But since you are already getting a full scholarship, that doesn’t apply.

Congratulations!!!
