Hey guys,
I am finishing my sophomore year at Baruch college, and have applied to transfer to USC, Northeastern and Cornell.
I have been accepted to Northeastern for Finance
Applied to USC for finance through Marshall school of business , but got accepted for Economics through Dornsife, but can minor in finance and still have resources of Marshall
Still waiting to hear from Cornell, but applied for AIM
Trying to go into I banking/ M&A jobs after 4 years of undergraduate.
Thanks for taking time to help me out
Northeastern and USC are solid for business/ finance, Northeastern’s ranking is climbing up (both in business and overall). USC carries a more prestigious name and has some extremely successful alumni who can help you find jobs straight after college. However, if you get into Cornell, it’s your best option. Cornell’s name carries crazy prestige both inter-US and internationally and you are bound to find a great, well paying IB/ finance job after grad. Not sure about Baruch though…
Cornell hands-down if you can get in.
Otherwise, I would choose USC.
Agree with the others. #1 Cornell, #2 USC, #3 Northeastern.
I went to USC and don’t really consider it a school for investment banking, although it’s got a good reputation in finance and accounting. IB at west coast schools seems to be passé, and the schools out here are more into high-tech entrepreneurship than Wall Street.
But with USC i wont be in the Business school, ill be in the arts and sciences school.
And Northeastern has a coop program that basically guarantees you experience
Cornell is the only target for IBanking out of the three. Marshall is a good business school and places well in other areas but not in Ibanking.
Don’t make your decision based one industry like investment banking. The industry is very small and in decline with massive layoffs being planned. I don’t see any improvement coming, just things getting worse.
Accounting is a better major anyway.
