Hey guys.
USC is actually my #1 choice school, and I've heard so many good things. It sort of shocked me that I didn't hear a single negative thing about the school. However, I was browsing CC and a poster linked me to a site called www.studentsreview.com. I went to the USC section, and to my disbelief, SO MANY PEOPLE WERE UNHAPPY AT USC.

They said the Greek scene made the environment shallow and exclusive, the Marshall Business school's 2.85 Curve basically ruins your chance of going to Grad school, the neighborhood sucks, etc etc etc.

Are these just all the unhappy people combined or is it really this...mediocre?

I really thought USC would be perfect for me, but all these people seem to want their tuition fee back. What's going on?

Go to USC and decide for yourself. That is what really matters. You will love it.

As far as that website is concerned, it is a sham. It only attracts the high and low reviewers of USC. So to say that the ones who LOVE USC will say how great it is and the ones who HATE USC will say how much they hate it. It is not a true exhibition of statistics. There are also no requirements to review the school, so that means UCLA kids can give USC a low review if they so choose. I know I go on the UCLA one and post negative reviews for fun. So don't trust it at all. It is a joke.

If you want a true feedback about the school you have found the right place. We are all somehow related to USC and have insight. We aren't simply posting junk anonymously about how much a school sucks. The Greek scene is not that pervasive. So don't worry about it. The Marshall curve is hard. But hey, what do you expect for an undergraduate business ranked what are we 7th in the nation now? It prepares you.

The neighborhood sucks? Yes. It does. However, most of the world sucks. Life is not a picturesque Candyland. If one cannot handle the poverty of Watts then maybe one should just quit life. It is not that nice of a neighborhood, but that is okay. Look at our campus' majesty. It is so beautiful. That is where you will spend more of your time. Learn from the bad neighborhoods how fortunate you are to go to a school like USC. It is a reality check and a prolific example of diversity.

So many people love USC. I think our endowment this year was 2.7 or 2.8 billion dollars. This is not a bad place. So many students applied and were rejected from USC. People want to be here. But, the decision is up to you. If you love USC then go for it.

I can say that I love USC. I definitely don't agree with any of the negative comments there. If there's one thing to complain about for me, it's only that the Parkside dining hall staff is rude, and they definitely don't read the comments cards that you fill out there....

Oh, one more: the ticket office sucks. They are always behind their dates in issuing tickets, etc. Lol, they were supposed to email us the UCLA tix yesterday, but no sign of them yet.

Definitely don't take those seriously! I remember looking at those after I applied, and kind of thinking twice. SirWatson is right in saying that websites like that attract the really passionate people: those that really love it or really hate it. And of course they can be fake. I personally have never met a single person here at USC that is unhappy (and I'm a junior). That isn't to say there aren't unhappy people here, I'm sure there are. It just seems that compared to all other schools I know, they are a lot less prevalent, and the love and pride is a lot stronger.

If it's your #1 choice, don't let a random website sway you. If you think it's for you, then that's all that matters.

spirited away: USC is known for film, business, communications, theater, journalism, and more recently, engineering.
