Is the orientation required for all transfers because it happens to be in the middle of july and I might not be able to make it.

If you can’t make it, read this, especially the note at the bottom: [USC Orientation Programs | Home](http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/content.asp?ItemID=95)

Essentially they will send you the materials and you will do advisement over the phone or walk in at your own availability.

You should absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely attend orientation. Orientation will walk you through the actual logistics of going to school at USC (i.e. USC Card, dorms, meal plans, registering for classes, placement exams, etc.) and not attending it will put you at a significant disadvantage and unnecessarily extend your learning curve. You will also miss the opportunity to meet fellow incoming students, which will help ease the social/emotional aspect of transferring there.
