USC SCA Class of 2023 Discussion

@filmmomvt @klsknsk Was there actually something on your child’s portal that said no aid? Or does it still say “under review” when you click on the FAST page where the aid is supposed to be (& where it shows what documents have been received by USC from you regarding financial aid)???

@drumminggeek87 I PM’d you earlier today…hope that answered your questions.

@lakergirl6232
Actual financial aid package was zero. Email came today that said according to FAFSA you don’t qualify for financial aid. That is ridiculous. It isn’t like we have assets either.

Just received email stating 0 FA. Such a bummer as our EFC is $37,000 :frowning:

@klsknsk
What major is your child? Do you have any other good college options?

@filmmomtv Film Production. Yes, lots of money at Chapman and DePaul. But still…USC!

@klsknsk My D didn’t apply to DePaul but got good merit and some aid at Chapman.

@filmmomvt do you have any idea when SCA scholarship awards come out?

@klsknsk I looked up last year’s thread and the SCA scholarship awards came out around 4/7 or 4/8, so hopefully it will be the same this year…

@lakergirl6232 Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea how many they give out?

@klsknsk I wish I knew how many they give out! Waiting to hear also!!

Anyone still not receive their financial aid package? My kids’ still say “under review”. UGH.

@lakergirl6232

Same here. Son’s FAST still says in review. Spring admit in TX.

Anyone know how much money the scholarships are for?

@drumminggeek87 Could you clarify which scholarships? Are they the ones listed here: https://cinema.usc.edu/scholarships/index.cfm

My D did not apply bc she didn’t think she fit any of the listed requirements to apply.

@cag60093 Yes, it’s those! I’m domestic so the HFPA one doesn’t apply to me but the Cohen and Lucas ones do.

FINALLY. One twin got his financial aid package (other twin’s is still “Under Review”) ugh). The one twin got 0 financial aid but USC threw in $3750 in “Gift Aid” (a “University Scholarship”). So still godly expensive, but at least saving $3750… :frowning:

I thought my D would qualify for HFPA because she is international from the viewpoint of the college admissions office since she graduated from high school outside the US. But she is also a US citizen, so no HFPA. @CelestialDreams. You too?

@lakergirl6232 Unless you’re swimming in it I hope they give your other twin lots of aid lol. 72-75k per year for 2 students would be insane to ask of someone. Hope you get good news soon!

@klsknsk I called financial aid and they said the scholarships are coming out next week in the mail and on the portal.
