@lakergirl6232 We also got the same gift card… Not enough for Art Supply…
@CelestialDreams hey you said you were from the UK right? Do you do A-levels?
@drumminggeek87 Good luck!
Today my daughter received an email from SCA admitting her to Cinema and Media Studies…which is weird because her original admission letter admitted her to Film Production. Film Production is her first choice.
Why would they do this?
It is giving her a heart attack. Wouldn’t CAMS know she was already admitted to her first choice? She actually asked me if maybe other students officially accepted their Film Prod offers and so they filled up already. I said no. Then, she was worried about taking someone’s spot who wants to do CAMS.
That certainly sounds odd. Did she apply to CAMS as her 2nd choice? I’d definitely call the SCA admissions office tomorrow.
@romns116 Yes, it was her second choice and she submitted the supplemental materials for both majors.
What date appears in the Status Update section of her portal?
What major is listed in the Admissions Conditions page of her acceptance letter on the portal? (2nd page)
If the major listed is CAMS, hopefully you have a copy of the original letter listing Production as her major. It might help to email the original letter to the SCA office.
Original letter on her portal is still there and says Film and Television Production. The email dated March 30th says CAMS.
@filmmomvt That is certainly strange, and it sounds like a clear mistake on the part of someone within SCA. I would both call and email SCA admissions tomorrow. I would not simply gain an answer by phone. I would be seeking a clarification in writing that she is secure with her first choice major… production.

Thanks @WWWard I will call Monday. Was just hoping someone could ease my mind. Seems a little late for a congratulatory letter when results were a week ago. Did anyone receive a similar email from Film and Television Production after they received admissions on the portal
D already received an SCA welcome letter about on campus events.
"March 30, 2019
Congratulations!
You have been admitted to the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) Fall 2019 entering class for Cinema and Media Studies Bachelor of Arts program. Your admission to SCA is contingent on your receipt of an admittance letter from the University of Southern California’s Dean of Admission."
@filmmomvt you’re welcome. Good luck getting to the bottom of it… and having the answer be as you want it to be.
Today, she received the same congratulatory email stating BFA in Film and Television. It is dated March 31st. The CAMs one was dated the 30th.
Anyone else getting these emails?
I got the BFA production email today! It’s dated the 31st
@filmmomvt Maybe she will get in engineering next! It will be an easy fix, think about how much they must want her if she got into 3 different programs already!
@CADREAMIN Only 2. Hopefully, two programs would be enough to give her some deserved financial aid. Or a scholarship. If they want her, they should make it where she can actually attend.
Did anyone get any scholarship news yet?
@lakergirl6232
Anxiously awaiting SCA scholarship results here in Colorado. I called FA office last week and they said today - but who knows?
I called SCA about admissions letter and scholarships.
With regards to admissions, D was admitted to both majors, giving her the option to double major, but that is nearly impossible to do in 4 years.
They said scholarships would come out this week until the beginning of fall semester. If you applied for the SCA scholarships, you will only be notified if you received one.
We are appealing financial aid. My older daughter graduated from Middlebury (then got an MBA), and we never had a problem with financial aid with Midd. At that time, my husband worked outside the US in Montreal, and now he works in Japan. The situation requires the school to look beyond the gross and at the details of taxes paid. Maybe a large school like USC is stretched too thin to initially look into individual cases. I hope they will on appeal.
I’m in an SCA group and one student emailed Student Services and was told they were currently reviewing applications and would be making selections next week. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean they’d be releasing next week I guess, so they could definitely be releasing up until the beginning of fall semester. It does seem like they’re giving a lot of different answers right now, which is weird.
