Does anyone know where I can find my USC ID number?
log in to your portal, click FAST, top right is your USCID
It says it is invalid. Or is this due to the IT problems?
IT problems. That’s the correct USCID.
Just had my SCA interview and thought I’d share given that almost all of us here are paranoid for information.
It was a skype call with a professor, lasted 1hr 11m for me, and was veeery casual.
He was incredibly nice and started out saying that he liked my application but reiterated that this didn’t indicate admission at all but was just an additional way to gather info on me.
He asked 10 questions, mostly standard although a few definitely left me without a good answer Ones I remember:
- What was a time where you struggled to collaborate and how did you get out of it?
- Do you want to double major or want to do something outside of SCA?
- Name a time you had a conflict with someone at work and how did you resolve it?
- How have you gone out of your comfort zone?
- What would you do if a crew member showed up drunk on set? (I failed this one pphht)
- What movies have you watched recently?
- What questions do you have for me?
- What would you do if you didn’t get into USC SCA?
These questions seemed tailored a bit to my application, so I’d expect different questions. I’m guessing that in my app they felt that I may not be confident or assertive enough to be a real filmmaker, which is understandable, and were worried by my extensive interest in other programs. These questions were trying to make me prove that I was indeed leaderly and as forthcoming as USC may like. I think I did okay, and largely feel like I did touch on things not in my application.
After that we just sort of talked, as he went on tangents about my questions and I learned a bit more about him. He had some great stories and really cared to talk to me. It ended with reassurance that my application was now in the hands of other people and that he was vouching for me but couldn’t promise anything. So I’m left happy and encouraged, but no more confident in my admission than I was before.
In summary, it was a great chat, and I’m glad I got to speak with a professor, but if you didn’t get one, I’d say it means nothing. I likely got an interview due to a lack of understanding in what I would actually be like on campus, and I wasn’t offered many new insights into my chances during the hour.
This was just my experience, idk if it’s helpful, but I wanted to talk about it given how the process isn’t known to many. Good luck to everyone else applying! I’m going to sleep and try and comprehend what just happened.
In the original email confirming your USC application was submitted and received.
They’ve updated the website now and you can access the scholarship application!
I tried the new login page and it still didn’t work for me. There had been a mix up with my application at first though so I’m not sure if it’s me or the page. Has anyone else still not been able to login?
Initially, DS couldn’t login to the new scholarship page. Found out it required his full first name.
Does anyone know what kind of stuff we fill at Academic Information where it says “please list any notable awards, scholarships, honors, publications and etc”. Do we fill in like previous awards and honors we’ve received?
Odd timing for his question, isn’t app in already?
@CADREAMIN
These prompts are from the SCA Scholarship app due 2/22.
@ocean2000
DS is listing film selection/awards received since his initial SCA app submission, along with major scholarships (Presidential, Shipman, Moody Honors, etc.). I’d suggest listing anything current (that isn’t already included in your USC app), but I wouldn’t limit accomplishments to film related subjects.
Thanks for clarifying @romns116 !
HELP! I have a SCA faculty interview today…has anyone had one before? Advice on the sort of questions they ask? Thank you a billion!
I just saw @cposey 's wonderful information! If anyone has any other advice, please let me know.
S got a voicemail from prof at SCA admissions and was told he had a few questions. We thought maybe he had left something out of app but when son returned call it seemed to be interview - not at all prepared for that! The prof was very complimentary - “beautiful” “love your work” “why are you applying to school instead of working”. I’ve seen students are getting Skype interviews. This was not that. Is it the same thing or something else? The suspense is driving me crazy…
Son had phone interview. Brush up on what you know about SCA program and relax!
@klsknsk I’m not sure what it means, but if the professor is saying that he loved your son’s work, I am sure that is an awesome sign!
Just had my interview. It was over the phone not Skype or FaceTime. It was pretty short, only around 25 minutes. He asked a few questions and I answered them to the best of my ability. Didn’t really talk about my film it was very general. Feeling no more confident than I did before…
@paceorama What questions did he ask you?
