***USC School of Cinematic Arts (Class of 2021 Discussion/Results)***

Now that the May 1st commitment date has come and gone, I will be curious to see the USC yield rate for this year. Here’s hoping that it is still not languishing in the 33-34% range. I would be especially curious to know the yield rate regarding SCA, but I know that they have never published such stats.

Would be fun to see where everyone is going who did not get into SCA. I know some may still attend USC but in a different school. ( @WWWard did your daughter eventually get into SCA or is she attending in another school?)

I’ll start- My son is going to Emerson-film production in the fall

@TheatreGoddess My daughter got into USC, but not yet SCA (so admitted as “Undeclared”). She will be attending USC and re-applying to SCA as an USC internal-transfer. I have seen on another CC thread someone who got into SCA and other places but will be attending FSU MPA for film prod. My daughter was on that wait-list there, but gave up her spot once she committed to USC… and a couple people have already gotten in there off of that wait-list. So at least 2 of their 20 admits (to FSU MPA) went elsewhere. And one other person who did not get into SCA let me know that their child is attending LMU for film prod.

Good luck to him at Emerson

Hi @WWWard ,

For some reason I decided to jump on CC today and check out the SCA thread for this year. My son applied last year and had the same result as your daughter, he was accepted to USC but as Undeclared, and just finished his first year there. He also applied to Film and TV production as his first choice and critical studies as the second, but did not get into either program. I would be happy to share his experiences with you as I do have some positive thoughts and suggestions. Let me know if you are interested and if she is going to SC, maybe she decided on another school. I understand your pain!

@sd2016 She will be attending USC and attempting to reapply to SCA in August as an internal transfer (CMS). She turned down admissions to 7 other colleges… including Princeton, Rice and Emory… so hopefully it works out as she is hoping.

So yes… please feel free to share any thoughts and / or suggestions

Thanks

Hi @WWWard ,

I just sent a private message with some info for you. Best of luck!

Thanks, @sd2016 much appreciated

As an update, my younger daughter - a current USC freshman - just received news today that she has been accepted as an internal transfer into SCA for the Cinema and Media Studies program beginning Spring 2018. She had previously been admitted as Undeclared. She had applied for Film / TV Production and CMS when applying originally, but was unsuccessful. So… @madbean and @CADREAMIN - as you suggested, persistence is sometimes rewarded. Thanks for your prior advice and assistance.

Fantastic news @WWWard! With her resume, I would have been more surprised if she hadn’t been, I knew they would see the light. It is a well deserved move for her. Glad to see her Fight On through this and get where she wanted! Woohoooo! #onehappygirl

Thanks, @CADREAMIN We appreciate it. Yes… it took a few extra months, but it is all well worth it in the end

Wonderful news, @WWWard !!! So happy it has all worked out.

Thanks, @jmek15 Yes… nice when things work out as planned.
