Usc scp

I received my acceptance letter in the mail the other day and it mentioned SCP. I was wondering if anyone else received news or knew more about USC's SCP. SCP stands for special curriculum program. I feel ashamed to have to post this but I still got in so who cares right? Most people are happy for me but personally I feel embarrassed because of this whole SCP thing. Any further info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. BTW I am not ungrateful but thankful to the University for granting me acceptance.

I was admitted in the SCP program as well. There is nothing to be ashamed of at all. We actually are advantaged since the program consists of giving us extra help and advising if we need it. I personally was pretty shocked when I was admitted since my school is young and there is only 19 seniors in my graduating class. Don’t be embarrassed at all! We now have a wealth of resources that we can use at USC! Congrats

Same here, and embarrassed or not, it means they were impressed more with you as a person than as academic statistics. Personally when I read it, I had the complete opposite reaction. (My stats are far lower than the USC average and I was certain of rejection)

So, celebrate!

But I do have questions…

Does it mean you’re limited in what GE classes you can take?

What the hell is SCP?! I don’t get it!

“Structured Curriculum Program”, from my understanding its for students who aren’t academically strong but have attracted the interest of USC admission officers. And so you have to take certain classes, and placement tests I believe. Also, you’re given free tutoring and extra resources (unsure what exactly) to help in your study.

Free tutoring? Extra resources? Dude SCP sounds awesome I’d totally be down for that lol. Seriously, you guys got into U-S-C! You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I know people who would do disgusting, morally questionable acts to get into USC, so SCP or not, we’re all TROJANS! FIGHT ON!!

I have always been on the Honor Roll at my high school. 3.6. And my SAT/ACT scores a bit above the “national norm.” My acceptance letter for USC 2010 FALL mentioned SCP and it’s AOK with me. On my application I documented large amounts of my; community service work, entrepreneurial undertakings, leadership positions (with documented follow through); along with a line of Creative Work that has been recognized. Even if my stats are a little lower than the USC average, I’m Still In and I Plan on Staying In until Graduation.
– So to all of the SCP peeps --LET’S DO THIS! We’re in because we have a good understanding of balance… No need for embarrassment.

Everyone thank you for your input. Your right it’s USC and were Trojans now hahah.

My son was admitted SCP. We were actually hoping for it. My daughter is a current sophomore and has many friends who have been in the program. Extra resources a-ok with him!

@shicko…wow…SCP…SCA must have REALLY wanted you…WAY TO GO!!! You stood out! I think SCP is a great program. Enjoy the extra attention!

Ditto to all the above plus…

SCP also handles all of the student athletes to ensure their success in the classroom.

SCP is USC’s desire for you to have every chance at complete success.

Being offered SCP means SC cares about you and they want you as part of the family.

Relax and enjoy the individual attention and help!

If you were admitted as an scp student for spring of 2011 can you go to a different college in the fall and then transfer your credits? I know you can for regular admittance but I think you can’t for scp credit  anyone know for sure?

so guys, this post has probably been years ago, but that is only a good thing because you have experienced SCP and have more to tell me about it. Does SCP take AP credits from high school and commmunity college credits? That is my aching question. Thank you
