What are my chances of any type of scholarship at all from USC with
GPA: 3.73 (sucks i know)
SAT: 2330
ECs: FBLA, Key Club, Bowling, RSVP, A LOT of volunteering especially with animals, Guitar, etc
Anyways USC is my hands down dream school, I just need to figure out how i'm going to afford it. Do I have any shot at a scholarship?

sure you do- just be sure you complete your application by the Dec 1 deadline.
Are you a NMSF?

Start with this excellent thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1558825-what-my-chances-usc-final-answer.html for information about your chances of admission.

USC merit scholarship candidates are selected holistically, so they are difficult to predict. In general, we see students falling in the top few percent of all applicants invited for interviews, but every year there are some with more modest qualifications who are selected to interview based on other aspects of the application including auditions for talent-based majors, the quality of supplements required for some majors, the essay, particularly interesting accomplishments and more.

Your best bet is to apply by the USC scholarship deadline, apply to financial+admission safeties, and to do the net price calculator to get a rough estimate of how much aid you might be awarded. [USC Financial Aid - Planning for USC](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/applying_receiving/undergraduates1/netpricecalculator.html)

Good luck

What state are you from?

If you’re from a state that is regionally desirable, then that may better your chances.

thank you alamemom for that great thread! and mom2collegekids, i am from iowa! which states are regionally desirable?

Amys13- did you take the PSAT? If so, did your score qualify you for NMSF status for Iowa?
NMSF have considerably higher chances of acceptance at USC, compared to non NMSF’s.

Last year, my D had 4.0 GPA, 2270 SAT, but only 217 on PSAT. She missed NM by 2 points.
She was accepted into USC but was told early on no scholarship was available to her. USC seems to give scholarship more readily to National merit finalists.

Yes, National Merit Finalists, if accepted* and if they name USC as their first-choice school by the deadline, are automatically awarded a 1/2 Tuition scholarship by USC.

The Mork, Stamps, Trustee and Presidential scholarships are awarded in a separate process and are not dependent on National Merit status. As NMF are often among the most qualified applicants there is of course a great deal of crossover and indeed, many of those fine students are offered USC merit awards.

USC selects candidates for their top scholarships in early January, before USC is notified of NMF status, so those invited to interview have not been selected for their NMF status. It is a predictable coincidence.

*Important note: NMF are NOT guaranteed admission at USC.

Good luck.
