USC students invade Bruin Plaza

I was just walking back from the library at about 11:00 PM and I stopped by where a few dozen students were congregating around the bear statue, mostly members of the nightwatch. All of a sudden, about 20 USC students arrive and after talking among themselves, decide that they want to "take a picture" of us in front of the statue. We all make loud anti-USC remarks to get them to leave, but we end up having our picture taken. Then the SC students manage to get behind us and have their picture taken in front of the blue box covering the bear (which will no doubt appear on tomorrow's edition of the Daily Trojan). So for the next 10 minutes, we trade barbs with the SC mob until they decide to leave, while during this time police cars are driving through the plaza, presumably to keep watch on the events. All this will probably appear in the newspaper tomorrow, if it isn't to late. It would be fun to get back at them by paying the USC campus an 11 PM visit, but the fact that they're protected by the ghetto of South Central Los Angeles pretty much destroys that plan. Oh well....I guess we have to stay content with the fact that UCLA overrules USC in terms of academics, local atmosphere, location, prestige, popularity, student body, history, traditions, etc. etc. etc.

Fight On for ol' SC
Our men Fight On to victory
Our Alma Mater dear,
looks up to you
Fight On and win
For ol' SC
Fight On to victory
Fight On!

USC!

that's their alma mater? good grief. so unoriginal.
32 words and one third of those is "fight on"...

i like ours so much better.

Hail to the hills of Westwood,
To the mighty sea below;
Hail to our Alma Mater,
She will conquer every foe.

For we’re loyal to the Southland,
Her honor we’ll uphold;
We’ll gladly give our hearts to thee,
To the Blue and to the Gold.

:)

USC - At least Trojans are useful.

Ours sounds epic.

ours is sung like a slow hymn. it's really quite beautiful!

They're probably going to Photoshop the picture they took of the nightwatch and call it their "prank".

fastMEd what do you got against UCLA so bad? don't you go here at UCLA or did you transfer to SC already?

anyone know where to get a red tshirt to exchange quickly?

disregard that last question, instead, where do people get those beat 'sc shirts that say a trojan is only good once but a bruin is forever?

Haha, I love this! Posts like these make me wish the forums had a karma system.

**** they did! Gawdamnit. Does anyone know if we retaliated in any way?

I love this :D.

Well of course, hibiscuspink - since we are all well too aware of your moral standings on the board such that any reciprocation of such feelings would be only relevant until affinity until fastMEd et al are abused enough. I am so glad that you are aware of this. Kudos to you.

I read that five times through. I can't make heads or tails of it.

mike2bb, you seem very intelligent.

tonight westwood village was filled with usc clothing..

Well, I'm certainly glad that they were being sent to the guillotine. Fantastic.

Thank you donk (fastMEd), but I can't say the same for u

USC's is terrible, while UCLA's is pretty classy.

Personally, I like Oregon's

Oregon, our Alma Mater,
We will guard thee on and on,
Let us gather 'round and cheer her,
Chant her glory, Oregon!
For the praises of her warriors,
Sing the story, Oregon,
On to vict'ry urge the heroes
Of our Mighty Oregon!

Go! Ducks! Go!
Fight! Ducks! Fight!
Go!
Fight!
Win! Ducks! Win!
