USC Thornton School of Music : Music Industry

Hello! I am currently an international high school student from South Korea! I have always been interested in USC Thornton School of Music : Music Industry! It is my dream college and major! And I have a few questions.

1) Are extracurricular activities important? I'm very worried about this because I do not have a lot of extracurricular activities. Especially extracurricular activities related to music. This is because I go to a boarding school and we study till 11:30 pm on the weekdays. We are not allowed to go outside of school unless it is for a short while with a reason such as going to the hospital since we are sick etc. There are a lot of contests that I could have participated in but I did not because of my lack of confidence I guess? So I only have a few big extracurricular activities that could be counted as important.

2) Do I need to know a lot about music such as music theories? The reason I want to apply for this school is because I have a big passion for music even though I do not know how to play any instruments (except for the electric guitar but I'm still a beginner) and how to compose etc. And I know that a lot of other people have a big passion for music too. However, I believe mine is a different kind of passion because of a few reasons.

3) How high should my ACT scores be? I'm currently aiming for a 31 or a 33 with writing. Would this be good enough?

4) I am planning to take only one SAT subject test, which is math level II. From what I know of, there is no number of SAT subject test requirement for international students applying to USC. Is this true? If so, would it be okay to take one or should I at least take two? (The reason I am planning to take one is because there is no other subject that I want to take)

Thank you and have a nice day.

By the way, I only have about a year left of high school.

I’m currently aiming for a 32* or a 33 with writing.

I’m curious, how competitive is this major? (I know the uni. is super competitive!)
