Usc transfers this year

Honestly, I’m not upset because I got rejected, but even when I read the thread I found some of your comments ridiculous. I mean I figure most of you were joking when you said things like UCLA and UCB suck but after reading it 15 times it got kind of silly. Also I live in SoCal and get very annoyed when I got to school with people who don’t even think other schools are worth mentioning besides USC.

The one post that really fueled my other response was when someone a few months ago told someone that NYU wasn’t even on the same playing field as SC. I love SC. I mean I’ve been to the school multiple times, and would have loved to attended, but I’m not going to tell someone to blow off NYU because USC is “so much better”.

I mean I really find it funny that everyone assumes that the other schools just blow you off. I mean the “Trojan family” is much more than just some BS line they throw at you, but other schools have just as loyal alumni and professors. Personally if I was dropping 50 grand a year, I would hope that they would offer something like this to make me go to USC over a school like UCLA.

I mean be completely honest. Besides the whole trojan family network, there is no $30,000 difference between UCLA and USC.

Also as you guys could tell in some of my posts. Some people on here shouldn’t get their hopes up for one school. So many people got rejected, and unlike me, were torn apart about it. While USC is a great school, it is nothing to be heartbroken over.

I have nothing against the university itself, but rather the people who hold it on such a high pedestal.

Like grindallday’s response is what I was expecting. I’m whinning because I got rejected :/. It’s like the joke that UCLA students only go to UCLA because they couldnt get into SC. I mean I understand rivalries, but this isnt a sports board lol. I mean what I was saying was true. Some people on here just want to go to SC because of what it represents, and not the education.

Like I said above. I got nothing against the school whatsoever. Just the minority who tell people to reject mini-Ivy league schools for SGR’s.

hehe well, first post was just ridiculous… :stuck_out_tongue:

as for nyc sucking, i dont agree, i love manhattan, and like iamrecognized said, i too would love to live in manhattan…

however, id chose usc over nyu any day… no doubt, no questions  although i do really like nyu, dont get me wrong, i even applied there last year, but i withdrew my application because they were taking so long and i didnt wanna face a hard decision and have no time to think it through :)

seriously though, how can you say ppl didnt deserve to get into usc… i am an intl student so im paying it all out of pocket, which i guess makes you believe thats why i got in? i seriously doubt that… i had a 3.5(below average) but a SH-III-TLOAD of EC’s, a few of them really really amazing that i havent even disclosed on this board…

seriously, for transfer, 10000+ applicants applied, and what 2500 got in? do you seriously think that there were only 2500 applicants with 3.5+?? or do you seriously believe that all 2500 of those are millionaires ? your comments are just ridiculous and arrogant…

and to top it off, you go to NYU :stuck_out_tongue: its just as expensive, only less ppl get fin aid… like someone else posted, youre like the school with the most dissatisfied ppl in terms of finaid, while usc students are generally really happy with theirs… what does that tell you?? money is more of a factor at nyu…

as for grey’s post, hahaha i lold  that was awesome :D

finally, matt… seriously, what did you expect? one week youre all , woohoo go SC, i hope i get in, after rejection, you start agreeing that SC, ‘sucks’… yea… whether it has anything to do with your rejection or not… sc is an awesome school like youve admitted, so thats good

im just wondering, how is nyu a mini ivy league? and usc not?
also dude, pride comes with every great school… dont you think harvard ppl are cocky as **** about it ? :stuck_out_tongue: even though it may not be the best school for everything… they say yale is crap, and the same about other ivies… while we all know that not to be true  UCLA, UCB and stanford are all ‘higher ranked’ than usc, and theyre all AMAZING schools, but rivalry is a fun thing and creates a sense of community  that people are saying that kinda stuff and ‘fight on!’ on the usc thread is ok because it shows enthusiasm, what do you know, maybe its their dream school, its not like only the people who play for the lakers or work for the team are allowed to say ‘Go Lakers!!’ …

Love and peace friends, love and peace.

@ns89:

Please point out where I said USC sucks? I never once said the school sucks before or after my decision came in the mail. This idea tht I trashed the school, or said anything bad about it is kind of funny.

The only schools in Cali that I would hold up to a Ivy league level is Berkley, Stanford, and CIT. USC, UCLA, etc are great great schools though academically.

The thing with cockiness is this. Some people, unlike you and me, come on here and have no idea what to do when it comes to college and where to transfer. They go to the USC thread and instead of getting an unbiased response they get something along the lines of what im complaining about. This board is about helping people IMO, and sometimes people put their biases into their advice. Also if a Harvard applicant ever started bragging and going crazy on here before getting accepted I would do the same.

Also with the fight on thing. There is a difference between being a lakers fan and a college sports fan.

I don’t really feel like getting into it though.

youre right mattg, you didnt say that it sucked so i take that back and apologize
yea, youre right, UCB, Stanford and Caltech are the only ones that are actually close to ivy league schools, but i dont see how nyu is… sure nyu is great too(just like usc) but not quite there, although theyve been spending A LOT of money since 2000 on getting famous professors there by giving them super contracts and luxury apartments etc… basically, theyve bought their reputation… which is ok though, dont worry im not dissing it :p

yea well ofc some ppl come on here not knowing a lot, i was a person like that too… but if people come on here and dont have the common sense to see that a USC person will say UCLA sucks, then frankly they dont really deserve to be in a school like that… thats like asking what america thinks about terrorism… not the same extent maybe but you know what i mean… :stuck_out_tongue: i know i have gotten a lot of help from this site, and i like to believe ive helped quite a few ppl myself, but i really doubt anyone is stupid enough to base ALL their views on 1 comment from a guy from a rival school of the school youre asking about… + though rankings arent everything, they do have a certain amount of credit, and if a school is ranked top 25(UCB,UCLA) then theyre definitely not bad school, regardless of what USC ppl say :)

haha i dont know, maybe theres a diff, maybe not… but in the usc forum, people were super excited, we talked about everything from usc football to finaid to techno music… it was a community in there and so obviously people are going to get into it, maybe more than they should :)
