Why were so many people able to transfer into USC this year? Some people I know that are dumb as rocks have been able to get in. I applied two years ago and got rejected. These people I know have worse SAT scores, worse GPAs, and are all around idiots.... but they are getting in.

Let's face it.. USC is really in need of money now because of the economy... and is accepting everyone they can who is willing to pay. They are no longer a school who bases entrance on intelligence.

People are even applying to transfer their third year (to attend their fourth/final year)... as in only doing ONE year at USC and getting the degree...

The name USC no longer means anything... and getting a diploma from there is as easy as coughing up the 50K a year tuition.

I wonder if others find this nearly as annoying as I have... oh yeah. Don't get me wrong.. I do know plenty of smart and well-deserving people who go to USC.. I'm just really disgusted with the school and its new "transfer admission policy" if you will...

In addition.. marshall ISN'T that great of a business school. 1/4 trojans is in marshall, so clearly it ISN'T as hard as say STERN or HAAS or WHARTON to get into. Don't kid yourselves.

sounds to me as if someone is a bit jelous they didnt get in… Did you ever think that the kids you know that are “idiots” have tried really hard and have improved, while you my have peaked and USC saw that. If you take a look at the USC transfer thread there are kids with like 3.9’s and so on… that have been rejected. Dont bag on kids that have gotten in just because you have negative feelings toward the school. :)

LOL you’re a tool.
i’m poor and was accepted…
if your personality is as bright as your abysmal first post, i’m not surprised you didn’t get accepted…

Haha, no wonder USC didn’t take you. You’re as mature as my 5 year old daughter. haha.

I’m broke too. I’m sure there are many more qualified people than you. At the same time, I don’t doubt that there have been some that have made it into USC who aren’t “up to your level”

I got into USC with a fairly low GPA (by other USC admit stats), but I had a lot of work experience and other things like that. Lots of people with lower stats like GPA and SAT can get into even top schools if there is another things that appear strong. You won’t have a vry diverse campus if all your students are 3.9 GPA and 2100SAT. They’ll take kids who will create a rounded student body. Also USC is one of the top ten ‘dream’ schools or most applied to schools, I don’t really think they’d be hurting for students. Plus while they are expensive they have a large fin aid pool.

Dude I go to NYU. aka… for three years topped princeton review’s list of TOP DREAM SCHOOLS. Only this year did we get knocked to number three? I think… somewhere around there.

I’m just saying it’s really interesting to see how the acceptance rates are being effected by the economy… because I feel like it’s just way too easy to get in.

In addition for you guys to just my supposed incompetence is just rude. I did in fact apply to transfer and got in… so suck on that.

I have to agree with you about how Marshall is not as strong as Stern, Haas, or Wharton. But then Wharton is the top business school in the nation, and Stern and Haas are top 10. I think USC’s business school is probably as good or better than UCLA biz-econ or most business schools in the nation, for that matter.

Are you saying WashU (in St. Louis) is weak because thier business school is weaker than these three. Or are you saying that Cornell is weak because thier business school is weaker than Haas and Wharton.

Are you saying that Brown is a weak school because they are need aware for transfers, meaning that if you don’t apply for financial aid, your chances to get in are doubled?

You obviously ARE envious/upset about being REJECTED from USC two years ago, otherwise you wouldn’t have written this post in the first place. You’re pretty ignorant to be starting a thread like this. But what do I know… I don’t even know you. I would also like to congratulate you on being accepted to NYU. Thats a GREAT school. I just hope you would represent your university in a more mature manner, instead of putting down other universities.

And as for the supposed “acceptance rate” thing due to the economy… I am a little offended by it because I am married with two children, unemployed because no one wants to hire an Infantry Sniper. I served 7 years in the military and 2 deployments to Iraq as an Infantryman, left the military, returned to college, got a 4.0, and got into USC’s Marshall. So I apologize for being a little offended by your comment. I take my admissions into USC with great pride.

Everyone who got into Marshall here had above a 3.6 at least. The majority have a 3.9/4.0. It’s funny how he says he was originally rejected then accepted again. He has no idea what he’s talking about because USC is probably one of the best schools in the nation when it comes to financial aid. I’d rather be a Trojan then come from NYU any day. I’m glad us transfer students make you mad. FIGHT ON!

USC is still a great school. Have they probably changed their admission standards because of the economy? Probably, but they still have a lot of great things going for them.

I will say this though between some posters on this board and those in SoCal, it’s easy to see why people hate SC. People acting like USC is the only damn good school in the state and country. I have SC fans trying to tell me that Berkley and UCLA suck because they arent SC… Face Palm… Just because you like the football team or like throwing up the victory sign does not make your school the greatest thing ever. Also I hated it in the admissions thread when everyone would end their posts with “Fight On!” before they even became trojans. People were passing up NYU and stuff for SGR’s from SC. Come on… Your school is just as good as any other

Quit whining Matt. It’s ironic that your complaining about USC people when you were just rejected from USC recently. Notice that only the rejected people trash USC. Get over it.

Doesn’t NYU also top the list for students most dissatisfied with financial aid?

I’m a zero-EFC student, and passed up schools like UC Berkeley and UCSD to attend USC. Also, I have my 3.8 GPA to prove you wrong. All of my USC transfer friends on here are intelligent, kind, and talented students who have rightfully earned their spot at USC.

Congrats on NYU though, have fun with the gorgeous weather and the sense of communi… oh wait. Nevermind. :)

Wow MattG728! I am stunned at your comments. I remember that you showed enthusiasm towards SC when you were posting in the SC “main” thread. Now, like the dude that posted this thread, you guys sound very bitter.

Matt, what the hell? We like our school because it’s fun to get into the whole Trojan thing. I do feel bad for the other schools where people don’t really care. USC students are Trojans for life. Do the majority of us really think that ucla, stanford, or cal are dreadful places where you can’t get a good education? Of course not. We’re just having fun and being loyal to a great school. And the other school have crappy bands.

I got in with a 3.7. I was a SGR and had a 4.0 second semester, which is, I’m sure, what got me in.
