USC, UCLA, UC Berkely, UMich, NYU Chances?

<p>I am an American female with two foreign parents who came to America to go to university. My dad graduated from USC and my brother currently goes there. (Does that help for USC?) I go to a private school in LA, 100 students per grade.</p>

<p>(P.s. if I do not get in, what would my chances of appealing to LA/USC be?)</p>

<p>P.S. What would be my chances at Dornsife for USC if I were to apply to that school specifically?</p>

<p>Thank you!</p>

<p>Oh! I forgot to comment that my UC GPA is calculated at 4.06, because for now I’m pretty sure that all of the honors I took Sophomore year “don’t count” may not count honors credit
:(</p>

<p>Having any family in USC does help your chances</p>

<p>Currently:
USC and UCLA: Low Reach (if you’re in state)
Berkeley: Reach
NYU and UMich: Reach</p>

<p>Bring your SAT to about 2150 and I’m sure USC and UCLA will take you</p>

I have been told by my college counselor and a lot of other sources that apparently my leadership in school (i am president of the most clubs) and all of my extra curriculars will greatly increase my chances of getting into the UC’s. I have also heard, but from rumors, that these EC’s are not as significant for USC. Is this true/can you please give me your opinions?
2. My college counselor told me that USC is a complete match apparently, and UCSB is a complete safety. What do you think are my chances of appealing to USC? (With the contention that my whole family is a trojan family, considering the fact that my dad came to America and went straight there, and that for my entire childhood I strove to succeed solely to get into USC?)
3. Does having taken a summer course at UCLA help me with the UCs in any way?</p>

<p>Berkeley - reach</p>

<p>USC - low reach
UCLA - low reach</p>

<p>How can I in any way improve my chances for USC/UCLA? Should I mainly focus on an outstanding personal statement?</p>

<p>Just an FYI for posters that reference UC’s and USC having an advantage being “in state”. The UC’s are caught in the state budget crisis and are therefore pushing out of state acceptance rates higher for revenue . This puts in state applicants at a comparative disadvantage. Also, USC with the common app is ending up as a curious choice for a lot of people that never would have applied in the past. They are looking for more geographic diversity in their student body and so once again negatively impacting Cal applicants.</p>

<p>I only got two chances replies, can anyone else please give me their input?</p>

<p>To be realistic, USC, UCB, UCLA, NYU are reaches even UCSD may be a low reach because of your GPA. Work on your essay and your SAT Math.</p>
