USC vs Emory vs UVA Business Programs

How would you rank these programs in terms of prestige and connections? Also can I do a double major in business (finance) and comp sci at these schools.

Not a fan of prestige but they all fall in the high prestige category. More importantly are outcomes. I can’t speak to USC or Emory but UVA has outstanding outcomes in banking (NYC and all major markets), Consulting (top tiers), etc. When looking at specific employers (G,JPM, MS, MBB, Big 4, etc. -on their websites) you’ll see many of them are quite active on campus. Not just drive buys or single events but lots of networking events, coffee chats, etc. A lot of that is done by alumni so that gives you an idea about connections. You can also go to Linkedin and look up UVA and then search by company. You’ll see them well represented by the major firms.

I didn’t look at Comp Sci but you can find that on Linkedin as well.

A few things to keep in mind. UVA requires you to apply for McIntire after sophomore year and has an acceptance rate of 54%. Emory also requires you to apply after sophomore year and has a 92% acceptance rate. USC requires you to apply for freshman year and has a 14% acceptance rate.
In terms of prestige and connections, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. Emory and USC may have more internship opportunities being in LA and Atlanta vs. Charlottesville. Otherwise, I would look at all 3 and see which one is the best fit.

Thank you both for these responses.

So what im thinking is that uva is probably the best school in what i want to do. I want to get into finance in NY. then i think emory is probably better than usc for me because usc does not have finance especially. How is Charlottesville as a city. Is it a bubble. Is there stuff to do.

Charlottesville is an awesome college town. Somewhere between a city and a town actually. Beautiful area. About 30 minutes to the mountains (if that). Not far from DC (within 90 minutes). Artsy, great food, music, etc. Lots of outdoor activities and awesome weather.

A CS degree is probably more of a ticket to work on Wall Street than a finance degree.

Honestly, they’re all good. I would put UVA and Emory slightly ahead of USC for pure academics, but really I think you should decide on fit and finances. Are you a Trojan, a CDC/Coke person, or one who wants to go to TJ’s pride and joy? Hoo are you?
