Where should I go? I was accepted to both and I'm trying to weigh the pros vs the cons for each school. I'm confused on which direction to lean towards.

What major?

Regardless, I’d go to USC for everything over Tulane

USC. Heartbeat.

USC all the way!

not so quick

Tulane was a great academic institution long before USC approached that level

big difference in the size of undergraduate student body:

7,210 – Tulane
16,751 - USC

selectivity and academics as well as student/faculty ratio and size of classes about the same for both schools.

^Who cares? The fact of the matter is that Tulane is behind USC now. “Historic” relevance, or what your grandparents think, isn’t worth bananas. -.-

^ so sentiment, in what is Tulane “behind” USC?

I think that USC enrolling about 1,500 transfer students/year, mostly from JC’s compared to Tulane’s 400/year would certainly allow USC to be “behind” Tulane, wouldn’t you think?

how about having almost 17,000 undergraduates compared to Tulane’s manageable 7,210 undergraduates?

all I am saying is, not so quick…think about it a little…

New Orleans is amazing.

yes new orleans is awesome

And LA isn’t?

LA is awesome, but New Orleans is one of the most unique cities in the US. You don’t find the kind of culture you do there in any other part of the country - LA is unique in its own respects, but New Orleans is smaller and more intimate.

Plus, USC is in a bad part of LA while Tulane is in the rich “garden district.” I’m not saying not to go to USC because of that because you can totally be safe at USC, it’s just something to consider. Unless you bring a car to campus you won’t be able to do much in LA anyway - the same is not true for Tulane.
