USC with low gpa, music

I was wondering, I know USC's Thornton school of music cares not only about your musical playing ability, but your gpa as well (academics.) So far, I've been an extremely lazy student; laziness and the lack of motivation really dropped my grades, even if I am quite intelligent. Like I said in my last post, I have almost a 2.3 gpa for my sophomore/junior grade totals with my freshman year added, it's about 2.75. I haven't quite shown a positive progression in my grades, but have taken 6 ap's to junior year with 2 3's 2 4's and 2 5's (2 sophomore year, 4 junior year). However, I've gotten bad grades in all my classes, especially AP ones not because I was struggling with the material, but because I failed to turn in my work for the course (lazy). I know I screwed up bad, but this year for senior year, I'm continuing with my 3 AP course trend (so I'm not taking an easier course load) but is getting all A's and looks like I'll keep them all year. Music has really motivated me to become a hard worker and I'm quite an adept woodwind player player, having played principle in orchestra for around 3-4 years. I plan to apply to Thornton and was wondering,

1) How good are the people applying to Thornton? I'm an oboe player and how good exactly are the people who go there/apply there? what kind of competition am I up against, musically.

2) With my straight A senior year first semester, and (let's say I do an excellent essay) will I be able to be accepted? since I show that I have fixed my laziness and my since my resume shows i'm quite smart (6 AP's - calculus BC in sophomore year, 2180 SAT with 800 in math, and 800's in 3 subject tests phsyics, math, and chemistry) Do I even have a hope of getting in?

3) If I do, lets say, miraculously get into thornton, how hard is it to declare a second major after accepted? I also have an interest in chemistry, but is afraid of applying as a double major since my gpa is obviously more heavily considered when applying to viterbi. So after I get into thornton (if i do,) Will I be able to take classes at different sectors, like, viterbi, or will I have to reapply to do that?
