Hey guys. I auditioned for USC's Thornton School of Music for Piano Performance BM, and I still haven't heard back from them. Have any of you guys heard yet? Also, what's the Music school like? I hear that it's pretty Conservatory grounded in it's curriculum, with some stellar faculty members. On the other hand, I doubt that I'll get in becuase my grades aren't too hot (3.6 GPA). I was just wondering if it's possible to get into Thornton, but not the actual school. And if so, can Thornton somehow get you in through a letter of recommendation? This would be the only way that I get in, if at all.

Gah, I'm just worrying to much. If you guys have any bit of advice towards the school, or are applying to Thornton too, it would go a long way right now. Thanks guys!

Hi! I've applied to Thornton too, I am a classical guitar major, and I have not heard from USC yet, but I have heard from the guitar department (I e-mailed them).

USC has one of the most impressive college music programs in the nation. There are tons of alumn who have won grammy's and many pro. musicians have graduated from the program. USC's Thornton is conservatory caliber, and is a top choice for many aspiring musicians. There are many virtuosi who teach at the school. Piano is strong as well, but very competitive.

Your GPA is not bad, and still gives you a shot at USC. It is also possible to get into Thorton, but not USC. I have been accepted to the music school, but have not heard from USC yet. It's a waiting game.

As for your question: And if so, can Thornton somehow get you in through a letter of recommendation? This would be the only way that I get in, if at all."

I have no clue. I'm sure that the school recommends some students to the university, but it really depends on how good you are.

Good luck!

BTW, has anybody that applied to Thornton received an accpetance yet??? Or are they still deliberating?
