Usc

annenberg said they would send out their notifications between may 10th and 30th.

good info guys, good luck everyone, remember "big" package, not thin letter, I came home last night and a thin letter from USC was on my countertop. My heart sank. It was just a letter from the FA office!!!

:)

Do you think freshman applying for transfer are at a disadvantage because they won't be eligible until then end of the semester? 8,000 applicants is more than last year, so they would probably more selective this year.

I think it's much harder to get in as a Frosh transfer. Is one year or semester any indicator of how you're going to do at SC? Prolly not.

It would be one year. Obviously, USC believes that one year is an indication of how a student will perform in college. But that is assuming that a potential applicant takes hard classes. You can't take basket-weaving 101 or classes comprable to that and expect to get in. I have taken Business Law, Western Civilizations (1642 to present), Macroeconomics, Honors English, U.S. History, and I am currently taking Calculus I (not the busniess calc, the real deal), another Honors English class, Microeconomics, and Spanish. That schedule is a good mix and fulfills USC's transfer requirement. By the end of the semester, I anticipate I will have a 3.55. That fulfills the requirements set for members of the Trojan family, so I will be a competitive applicant. My question should have been "Do freshman transfer applicants compete with sophomore transfer applicants?" My chances would be slightly worse though if there really are around 8,000 applicants. That means that the total number of applicants went up by roughly 33%. Wow

Fight On!

Yea i am a bit discouraged about my abysmal gpa from last fall. it was a 3.21 but i was taking 4 honors classes and a bio lecture/lab. I hope they consider that. I am still keeping my fingers crossed because I have a pretty strong hs gpa. It just shocks me how many people on this board have 4.0s in college. What kinda classes are u guys taking?!

i still cant believe CC's have honors classes.
thats just rediculous...

i suppose honors classes at a CC are equivalent to a normal class at a university?

and in response to your question, the classes i've taken my first year here (cwru) are
calc. 1
calc. 2
chemistry 1
chemistry for engr.
physics 1
physics 2
english
C# programming (i suppose i took the "honors" verson of this class)
i have like a 3.4/3.5

--
by the way, GPA isnt everything...

"i suppose honors classes at a CC are equivalent to a normal class at a university?"

What would make you think that?

While success in a rigourus course load as a whole is looked upon favorably, the admissions lady at my meeting told me to go into the classes that a) fulfilled certain transfer requirements, and b) classes that I could achieve a B or higher in. She noted that while I was in my JC's Honors Program, it was the GPA (among other things) that matters.

My question is whether or not last year's transfer profile would be comprable to this year's. I guess it's hard to tell until after the applications have been processed, but I feel that the average 3.55 (my GPA) isn't good enough.

Fight On!

what are the most popular, or "impacted" majors at USC? Does anyone know how impacted Political Science is?

bump

think you mean BBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

someone start talking something, anything about USC. It seems as though a few transfer students on this forum have already been accepted already.

jonmitz could you please disclose the reason ur transferring out of Case Western? I am might enroll in CWRU.

it's already 5/5... does anyone have any more info on usc acceptances? i'm getting anxious... lol

i applied but heck i got into UCLA and its a ton cheaper and still in LA.... so im all ready for LA already and i dont care about USC.

For freshman applicants, we should be receiving Spring Grades Requests in a week or two. For sophomore applicants, you guys should be receiving admissions decisions starting in a couple days or you may get Spring Grades Requests too if your GPA isn't strong. Good luck guys. I am so nervous

I have been waiting for this month what seems like forever, but then again I didnt want this month to come cuz i am $hit scared.

day 6! what day do you guys invision some our letters comin in? towards the end of the month, or sooner? lets take some bets here.

i say on the 18th someone on this forum will recieve a response

I posted this on another thread, but me and my friend got in about 2 weeks ago as junior transfers with gpa's of 3.84 and 4.0 respectively.
