USConnect question/speculation?

@calculusfan exactly, that is standard operating procedure for any company, ignoring the tweet and taking down the notification would have been a very good sign that it was credible. Since they responded than it means it might be relatively benign. More than likely it was a weird place holder that was meant to update after decisions came out and instead acted early and drew from your file. If it didn’t happen to you than maybe you file had not progressed to the point where activation of the glitch could have taken place. FA and admissions committees operate exclusive from one another, decisions have probably just been completely finalized (which would track with the timeline in the past). any notification whether it be second choice, first choice, or undecided should be taken with a grain of salt.

Not necessarily everyone in the admissions office AND the financial aid office has been informed about this potential “glitch.” Why would they? It is possible that the admissions officer managing the twitter account simply didn’t know and said what they said. It is also highly possible in my opinion that a student worker or an intern is managing the twitter account…But who knows just four more days.

I applied to Viterbi and had Unknown and Unknown. Has anyone else apply to Viterbi and get their major?

I was Viterbi and Unknown unknown as well.

@Bouncer I put Viterbi 1st and Dornsife Undecided 2nd; I also had unknown unknown!

Looking through this thread, I’m not seeing any Dornsife/Viterbi people with their majors listed… I’m seeing a lot of more specialized majors.

Same, I had unknown unknown for 1st major Viterbi and 2nd major Dornsife

My son also had a 1st choice major in Viterbi (CS) and 2nd undecided (Dornsife). Was “unknown/unknown” until they took it down.

I have hope again… :D

Also, the 1 friend I asked who didn’t have unknown was Business Adminstration major. Everyone else was unknown

I think it’s safe to say that the status doesn’t matter for people who applied to Viterbi unless someone’s status showed.

Maybe FA office populates the data from Admission office school by school…

I applied for Viterbri and had my major (BME) and class (underclass) listed …

How about any Dornsife?

"I applied for Viterbri and had my major (BME) and class (underclass) listed … "

Sigh. Thought we had a glimmer of hope, there for a minute…

Sorry :(

I had my second choice listed : poli sci(dornsife)

Most arts and sciences don’t admit based on major. So then why would they put someone’s second major down? I feel like this is a really bad computer glitch, still. Just my opinion.

@Calculusfan

At USC they do…

@littletowndreams, is your first major also in arts and sciences?

I applied to dornsife undecided, and I did not have unknown/unknown.
