USConnect Statuses

Hmmm… I am guessing the key box to have at some point would be “Explore USC…”

Keep an eye out for that :)

Question: How big of an envelope would the USC decision for scholarship consideration be??? And I’m assuming the only way to know if one was not picked for a scholarship would be if that person did not hear anything until March??

9 X 12 envelope. Says “USC” on the outside :)

Around mid-February, a letter (business sized) will probably go out to applicants not selected to interview. It says they are still in running for other USC scholarships and instructs you to submit mid-year grades.

And so it begins! (Looks like USC using the Common App does will not necessarily stave off the yearly statuses clues obsession, huh, alamemom?)

i just received an email (at 10:11 p.m.) suggesting i log into my usconnect account or, if i had not done so already, to create an account. i logged in, but saw no changes in the admission or events tabs, so…does this mean nothing? or does it mean that i might have an invite to interview? :)

I think it means that they’re finally just getting around to sending the emails out to everyone, like it said above the login page if you did it on your own without being prompted!

Yeah, I got that email about 15 minutes ago, too haha. I’ve already made an account, though.

Just another word–some very small fraction of students who will be admitted to USC will get a large envelope soon. Most (but not all) will also receive a follow up letter by mail in the coming week notifying you if you are a scholarship finalist for USC’s Trustee & Presidential (and maybe Mork) and there’s one more new named scholarship I’m forgetting. Anyway, the hard part is waiting to receive that letter. In years past, a new tab has appeared that allows scholarship finalists to reserve their dates for ExploreUSC, the event where students & parents visit USC and are interviewed. That tab has (in the past) indicated which (if any!) scholarship one is up for. Please remember, there are many instances where students are bumped either way (Pres interviewees who are awarded Trustee, and the other way too) so if you are among the very lucky finalists, give 'em 'ell!

And also know that there were also students who didn’t receive the tab until AFTER they were notified of acceptance and scholarship invites. So not seeing an Events tab can be misleading as well!

@madbean: So the large envelope is just the acceptance packet, and the separate scholarship mail comes later?

In the past have they notified everyone who applied by the December 1st deadline if they are qualified for any scholarships?

The email we received…

"Thank you for your application to USC! We look forward to working with you in the coming months.

A thorough review of each student’s application takes time. If we find we need more information from you, we will contact you via letter, so please watch your mail carefully.

In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about us by logging in to our student services portal, USConnect. Here you can check the status of your application and submit any additional materials, including your final grades, as well as RSVP to USC events. You can also monitor the status of your financial aid application and respond to any requests for additional information."

I have a Cornell interview tomorrow but all I can think about is USC! This isn’t good, I need to get myself out of this forum and focus on getting through the week!

Soaroneagles, in years past, most students who applied by Dec. 1 but did not receive either of the big scholarships got a letter along the lines of “You did not receive a big scholarship, but you’ll still be considered for smaller scholarships and admission.” But not everyone. My son never got that letter and was never asked for mid-year grades (although he submitted them) AND received an acceptance and music scholarship.

So… the important mail always seems to arrive.

Thank you jazz/shreddermom

Haha! Yes, the status obsession continues! (And I sheepishly admit that I am as obsessed as anyone :D

On that note, have any international applicants received a DHL email?

Does anyone know about how many applicants get selected for the interviews? Thanks.

^ about 800 to 1,000 based on the available slots in the five 2-day Explore programs.

Over 2100 views but only a few people have posted their USConnect status. Anyone else like to share?

i think it’s been the same for everybody.

mine’s the same as the one posted:
