rmorgan,
Call the admissions office immediately and straighten out this error…assuming you did complete and include the supplement. Did you make a copy of your supplement?

If you cannot make it through the phone system e-mail your admissions counselor explaining it is an emergency and you must speak with him/her this morning. Keep us posted.

I have this message as well:
"The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

We have received both the Common Application and USC Supplement, and we are preparing your file for review. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application. "

Good luck to all!

Yes - the same. All docs recvd. Send in your Fall Term grades. Decisions by April 1st.

Mystic, last year the scholarship invitation was in the big packet for my son.

Thanks alamemom.

I also got the same message as everyone else.

First CC Post!!! Anyways, I am anxiously awaiting news about when these letters are coming out… Is anyone applying for the USC alumni scholarships???

I also got the:

"The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify freshmen by April 1st. We often like to see the mid-year grades of freshman applicants. If you have not already done so, please submit your final, fall term marks when they become available. Submit a Mid Year Report school form, or click “Mid-Year Grades” in USConnect. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will mail a written request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly."

I’m worried that it means they didn’t consider me for scholarship or that I’ve already been moved to RD, but apparently others have gotten it and it can’t have any bearing on potential decisions…

^ What do you mean, you’re worried that you’ve been moved to RD? Everybody is RD, the Dec 1 deadline is to try for financial aid.

I did the Dec. 1st deadline and was worried the fact that “We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify freshmen by April 1st…” meant I had already been turned down for scholarship consideration.

Slight clarification of post #49: The December 1st deadline is to be considered for merit scholarships. All applicants to both the December 1st and January 10th deadlines are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid. As Snowdog says, both deadlines are technically “RD.”

Does everyone get assigned a ten digit usc id number whether they have been admitted or not?

^yes, unless something has changed with the Common App (but I doubt that very much).

alamemom: or anyone else who might know, Last year when the Events tab was available to schedule interviews for the big scholarships, did that tab appear only for those selected to interview, or was it available to all of the users of USC Connect?

@maddenmd: if you got a scholarship, a box appeared saying “explore usc” underneath the events tab.
