I applied end of October and veered towards communications. Is it bad that I haven’t heard back?

victor45 – it is still very early. decisions will be released from now until April 1. My son has an interest in a minor in communications. Don’t worry, although I completely understand…

For those who have the “accepted” tab, are you from the West Coast? Just wondering if admissions are going out according to region.

Admitted today for Business. Only received $15k in aid, although my family contribution was low. Do they include merit aid in their “expected family contribution”?
Also I’m West coast.

west coast also. The merit award showed up late last night, while the admitted tab showed up on Monday,
so keep checking the Financial Aid area. @vegveg - The need-based portion will porbably not show until March (based on previous years posts). My guess is that the merit award will not eat into the EFC. (for example if your EFC was 35K and you got 15K merit and COA is 55k, your need based would probably be a 5k student loan.

@jbourne when I looked at merit aid page it also stated my EFC. Is it possible that some got theirs early? On the same page it says my cost was 0. My EFC - merit aid = 0 so is it possible that my total cost would in fact be 0?

For some reason I do not even have the financial aid tab? Still on “ready for review” and on the West Coast.

My portal keeps changing. One time I log in I will have multiple tabs, like financial aid and my academics, and the next time I log in I won’t this has happened all day and I have no clue what’s going on. Any ideas?

Nope, but if it’s any consolation, my son’s keeps changing too!

OK - I have never had a ‘financial aid’ tab. But under the ‘Admitted’ tab, in the middle of the screen is an area called ‘Financial Aid Status’. If I put in the year 14-15 and click ‘submit’, it now shows a link to ‘Your Financial Award - Click here’. This link was not there the first two days after the Admitted tab showed up.
@vegveg - I just think they haven’t loaded the Cost of Attendance yet for next year, because mine also
shows cost of 0. I am guessing that after they get the numbers for next year, they will start processing
the need-based side of financial aid.

Ha - I just noticed that mine no longer has the ‘invitation’ to apply for the honors program! I can’t
even remember which screen it was on (I think on the Announcements one), but it is no longer there.

To the people who don’t have the Admitted tab yet, don’t worry - it looks like are just processing some at a time.

I got the Admitted tab on the 24th and was awarded the Alcala Scholarship! I applied as a History Major a week before the deadline. I live in Southern California and I’m Catholic, if that means anything. My stats are
SAT: 2010 Math: 670 Reading: 640 Writing: 700
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.9 UW 4.5 W
5s on multiple AP Tests.
Church leadership teaching middle-schoolers, Band President and Flute Section Leader, First Chair Flute, and lots of community service, mostly through my church.

USD is my top choice by far and I’m so excited! I cried when I found out I received the Alcala award because it meant that I’d be able to afford attending. I think people were still being notified close to April last year, so no one get nervous just yet. Good Luck to everyone!

Here are my stats for acceptance & 15k scholarship:
3.85 GPA
29 ACT
Heavy AP course load

Extracurriculars:
Key club
Student leadership
Choir
NHS

My portal has an admitted tab, but still says my application is under committee review. If you have this tab, does this mean you will be admitted?

My stats are:
1930 SAT (1310 M+CR)
4.0 weighted, 3.8 non-weighted
8 APs

Thank you!

Has anyone gotten a rejection?

How much is the alcala scholarship?

The Alcala Scholarship is the highest merit scholarship at $25,000 annually.

Alcala is $25K per year.

West Coast. Admitted but no $ info of any kind. California privates do not give all that much add overall–too much demand for the schools, so those who get $15,000, I’d be pretty grateful and be kissing the ground if we got that.

Thanks, and wow! Congrats to all who were awarded the alcala!

My son’s Honors info disappeared today from the portal. Everything else is the same. Congratulations, 15k, scholarship, deposit info, etc… I called admissions and they said that there was a “glitch” in the system. Everyone who qualified for a scholarship also was sent the Honors invite by mistake. So my son did get a 15k scholarship, but no honors program for him. If any honors invite info is gone from your portal, unfortunately you are not included in the Honors program.
