Anybody hear anything today??? I may be losing my mind with impatience!! UGH! This process sucks!
So frustrating! And my D has good stats and great ec’s and everything. I don’t get it?
Nope:(… can we assume that if we don’t see an admitted tab after tomorrow or an email saying that we’ve been rejected that we have been placed on the waitlist?
My best guess is that there will be a flurry of activity today and tomorrow. As USD has said that on or before April 1, those applying for admission will have an answer. I am betting there will be a number of waitlisted based on those not yet committed to USD. I am sure they have an algorithm that gives them a number of how many of those admitted will say, Yes vs. open other slots. Normally, they do a large number of announcements on Monday’s about 11AM PDT. I have also seen announcements at USD as late as 8PM EDT. So, it is the waiting game. Still have my hopes for a positive outcome.
If we haven’t heard by now (as the very last stragglers), should we assume that we’re low on USD’s wish list? I’m figuring that they would have admitted their top picks earlier, right?
Last year, there was a lot of acceptance activity at the last days. That stated, yes, the school does try to win over the best candidates first. However, that does not trivialize you should you finally get in. Make sense? We are still hopeful in MA.
This process has been frustrating to say the least. I truly thought that my daughter was a VERY strong candidate for USD based on stats and EC’s and to read now that they picked the “best” students first is a little depressing. I realize that no one is undermining anyone’s achievements but because the decisions trickle out, it definitely makes you think that/feel that way.
Please understand I am not in the admission office. My determination that the “BEST” students went first is based solely on looking at the stats/EC of some of those already admitted. Please don’t take my words as gospel. It only goes to reason that based on numbers seen and Merit money provided, that those higher than my D have been admitted. If I ran the school, I would do the same thing…
USD admission notification process is tough. My son was admitted back in 2018 (class of ‘22 he enrolled elsewhere) in LATE March and was given a presidential scholarship. I don’t think it’s cut and dry as to their timeline. FWIW my daughter was accepted last week and we still have no letter in hand or any financial info.
Hi. I was just waitlisted at 2:27 today. 3.7 GPA, 28 ACT, some ECs, and in state. This year, more than 1700 students have been waitlisted, according to my email. I’m so relieved to have heard back! Good luck, everyone
Although, I’m wondering, will USD offer me financial aid if I am accepted?
Waitlisted
Lastly, my portal still reads “Complete - Ready for Review.”
My portal says C-RFR still, but I got an email about being on the waitlist
My daughter waitlisted as well.
lol i got waitlisted, what a joke to wait that long just to get that decision
My daughter not accepted for fall - but has a conditional acceptance for spring as long as she gets a 3.0 at another college. No new application will be needed - she will just be accepted. Has anyone else received this?
I totally agree. D also (finally!) heard she was waitlisted. She got into several more selective schools and the report from our HS shows that everyone even remotely close to her stats has gotten in (her grades and scores are above USD’s average). I guess they didn’t like something in her app. In any case, USD, if you’re paying attention, you really need to improve your admit process. Release decisions at once like every other college manages to do. It makes it look like you don’t have your act together.
Still C-RFR, and no email. Remaining positive. Congrats to everyone who found out something. Maybe the waitlist will help you to make the decision. Wow, 1700 on the waitlist. I will keep looking on the portal and waiting on snail mail. USD is still her #1 choice.
@purpler totally agree! i also got into more competitive schools and my scores were in usd’s average. my friend found out over a month ago that she got in. i was checking my portal everyday to see if anything changed. at this point i didnt really care for their decision because of how upsetting the process was.
