Hi! My son is trying to make his decision between these two schools (and we live in Southern California). He received excellent merit money from both (Alcala Scholarship from USD and Distinguished Scholar & Sewell scholarship from SMU) so the cost works out to be very close. He also received the Trojan Transfer Plan from USC, allowing him to transfer to USC his sophomore year if he maintains his high GPA - which he can do from either school.
Is SMU strictly a Dallas/Houston name for jobs? SMU was pretty impressive…or are they just great marketers? I think USC would carry more weight worldwide after graduation, but don’t know until next year what the cost would be.
He’s definitely interested in business - but isn’t quite sure what direction yet.
Anyone with experience with either school would be helpful!
