USD or Loyola

Accepted to both for business, trying to make a decision in regards to who offers the better program for business majors. USD gave more merit money.

At full price both are tough to rationalize but, academically, they are pretty comparable. Given all the great biz programs in CA, neither is worth incurring any debt. I’d focus more on your net price than the size of their grant. Can you family afford the bill?

Not really still exploring other options. Thx for the input

what are your other options?

What’s the net price* at each university that admitted you and what your parents’ Budget (out if income and savings, no loans)?

*(Tuition,fees, room, board) - (scholarship, grants)=

I think both programs are similar, so it comes down to personal preference. San Diego or LA? Jesuit ?

My niece went to USD and loved it. Almost all her friends did a study abroad program as juniors and that worked well as they would travel around Europe and meet up. San Diego seemed smaller than LA, easier to get in and out of by air, more of a small community. I’m sure L-M would have come to feel that way too.

Umass Amherst Isenburg school of business. I am a Mass resident, so instate tuition. I wanted to go to the West coast and was accepted at USD and Loyola, but tuition would be much highet at those schools . I did get some merit at both, but UMass cheaper.

Can you answer the question in#4

Loyola was $63,000(tuition, room and board) - $11,000 (merit) = $52,000
USD is $62,000(tuition/room) -$18,000(merit) = $44,000
UMASS $31,000 tuition/room ( no merit) instate tuition

Do you want to work/live in CA after graduation? If so, do you prefer LA or SD? I have lived in many CA cities and SD is my favorite.

Loyola is not worth so much more money than USD. SO, your real choices are USD or uMass. Can your parents pay the costs at USd without taking loans for you?

what did you decide?
