Hmmmm so there are 9 schools on my list right now..
University of San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, SMU, USC, UofDenver, Seattle University, Richmond, and NYU.

Have about a 3.6-3.7 Weighted GPA with an upwards trend with a 2070 SAT.
Varsity Lacrosse, good ECs, etc.

Looking for a school like my sisters "SMU", but not in Dallas.

What do you think of my chances at these schools? Do you have any other suggestions?

I dont know much about chances. But I have about the same weighted GPA, and a 2010 SAT, and am a rising senior s owe are pretty similar!

I’m also applying to USD & LMU. Both are great! And you’ll probably be in at both. Good chance at pepperdine too. Pepperdine is quite conservative / religious compared to the previous, FYI. I don’t know about the others…

USC and NYU are the best for journalism and lots of those don’t even have a journalism program. You may like U Colorado- Boulder better then U Denver. Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine aren’t really that great and you should get in. I would add Chapman and it’s on that level of schools, you should like it if you liked the others.

I particularly recommend UGA. I saw in your other posts that you want the typical college experience basically. UGA is a very southern university with an awesome town surrounding it. (Athens has the number 1 campus music scene! )

Meanwhile, they maintain a national academic reputation with the Grady School of Journalism consistently staying in the Top5 Check out…

I’ve done a lot of research and here are some of the best schools:

Northwestern*
Mizzou*
Syracuse*
NYU*
USC*
IU- Bloomington*
U Ohio
U- Maryland
UGA
UNC- Chapel Hill*
Ithaca College (ok not as good)
Penn State
U of Texas
University of Wisconsin-Madison
U Colorado
American
George Washington
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Boston U
U Florida
Arizona State University
U Minn
Washington and Lee University
U Montana
U Iowa
Suny Purchase
Northeastern
I consider the schools with a star the best. Also, some of the schools aren’t that great but have decent programs.

You may also may like to go the liberal arts way and lots of journalist do and you may like Sarah Lawrence, Bard and Bennington. They all are strong on writing in general.

Well you can do all sorts of things. You can do freelance, sports, political, you can work for a big organization in broadcast/magazine/newspaper, or work for a local outlet.

How’s my shot at NYU? I love a pretty campus with some frats, but I have such a connection with NYC, I really love the Village-Soho area that the school is in.

But in reality I’d probably enjoy myself more at a more preppy/fratty school.

The average GPA at NYU is a 3.6 (I think that is unweighted). It should be a low reach and it is easier to get into the Arts and Science College.

and journalism majors are required to have a double major in journalism and something in CAS, usually some sort of history. I’m not really sure what this means in terms of admissions though.
