Useful Admissions Data

An alumnus went to a Holy Cross event this week where the president of the college offered the following info:

HC received 7,222 apps, +2.5% versus last year.

523 apps for early acceptance, 292 accepted, 273 enrolled which should equal 39% of the freshman class of 700. We have a "robust" group on the wait list.

70% of applicants submit SATs. He also said that SATs have never been the most important thing for HC admissions, that the #1 consideration was whether the applicant took the hardest classes in high school. He said we regularly reject students with 1,400 SATs if they have been taking easy HS classes.

Thanks! This was for early decision?

some very useful info there, thanks collegbounder!

Yes it looks like they fill almost half the small class of 700 through early decision thus making regular decision very competitive. I would think if you really want to go here you should apply early decision.

Early decision is ok if FA isn't a factor.
