Usefulness of two back to back visits?

Hey everyone, I got the invitation for an all expenses paid trip to Wash U for Multicultural/Celebration Weekend, April 10-12. However, I am already going there in a few weeks, March 27-30, for Honorary Scholars Finalist Weekend. For Multicultural Weekend I have to register by the 24th which is before I go for Finalist Weekend, as well as before I find out about my ivy decisions. Therefore I am afraid that it might be pointless to go visit twice within such a short time span, and also that it might end up conflicting with potentially visiting ivy schools which I may or may not be accepted to (haha...) so any opinions on if I should register for and go to Multicultural Weekend? I would love to experience Wash U firsthand but would the extra visit be worthwhile given that I'm also going for Finalist Weekend? So excited for that by the way! Thanks!

I’d opt for registering while you still can . . . and then canceling if you decide you don’t want to make the second visit. I’d just hold off on booking the airfare until after you decide for sure, so they don’t have to pay for the airfare until you’re sure you will use it.

Thanks for the quick response, dodgersmom! Unfortunately it seems like they will book the plane tickets for me once I register (I won’t be booking the flights myself) and I don’t want to have to reimburse them for the cost if I end up having to cancel :/

I don’t think your view of the school will change in a few weeks. I’d go for the weekend in March and experience all that you can when you’re there. It’s a phenomenal place- my son is a freshman there and loves it.

Well, if they’re booking for you, then I’d simply contact them and ask if you can delay registering until after you’ve completed your first visit. It’s only a few days - the worst they can say is “no.” And you’ll likely know, once you’ve visited, if you’ve seen enough to be sure . . . or if you really do need another chance to explore.
