Invitations would be out by February 25th, so many of you will find out by that date if you are in (or later, depending on you post office)
Keep in mind April 10-15.

Multicultural is just for black/asian/hispanic right?

yes so i guess the minorties would find out earlier

Wait, what is this all about? What do you mean by "minorities will find out earlier"? Sorry if I seem really ignorant to all of this, but please brief me on what Multicultural weekend is and what you all mean by "getting in" or "finding out". Does that mean that you get to know by Feb 25 if you get into the university overall? Or something?

Multicultural weekend is when WashU invites several (no ideas on numbers here....but large enough to be a sizeable group) admitted students to the campus in early April. In order to give these students time to make plans to attend (I believe that airfare is paid by WashU) the students who are invited to this celebratory weekend will get their letters of acceptance to WashU earlier than those students not invited to Multicultural Weekend. But don't get your hopes down if you are a minority and don't get a Multicultural Weekend invite/early notification of WashU admission. I don't think all minority students are automatically invited, and I seem to believe that some of the invites were not minorities. The theme of the weekend is Multicultural. Also to look forward to in April: at least the year before last, there were special weekends for SamFox, the Engineering School, and the bschool as well, meaning that some of these students find out earlier than expected as well. So I guess the moral of the story is that some people will find out earlier than expected that they are accepted to WashU, so don't panic if one of your friends gets an acceptance letter and you're still waiting to hear back. : ) Good luck everyone!

Certain people will find out earlier than others. Scholars Interview weekend invites will be going out in a little over two weeks. Receiving one of those means that you are in and also have a good shot at some merit money. Always an exciting time - good luck to everyone.

Ah! I'm so nervous!!

Girl me too! I can't handle the wait. It's even more agonizing than the actual application process...

And eleph, thank you so much for clarifying that for me! I hope I'm one of them. It would certainly ease things up for me.

So, where exactly are the dates stated by the OP found on the internet? I can't seem to find the February 25th date on WU's website.

As far as I remember, early acceptance came by mail, they didn’t post it on the website. Most scholarships have an interview weekend, but not all, my S’s didn’t have it, he knew by the end of February he was accepted with a merit scholarship.
Multicultural Weekend is during the April Welcome, parents can attend too, I went last year and it was fun (I missed the year before). I don’t think is about racial minorities but about different cultures because many internationals are invited too (most of them from Canada), even students that live in another country for a while and talk about it in their application (I met last year a couple missionary that lived in three different countries and their D was invited all expenses paid)
During the Multicultural Weekend there is a carnival on campus, the Thurtene and also the Latin Market and other events.
If parents are going, don’t expect to have a long time with your children, they will be very busy and having fun, so try to meet other parents and enjoy your stay on campus, you will have time on the way back home to talk with your kids if they are awake after those days ;).

and over mc weekend, dont forget holi!!!!!!!!!!!!! for those of you who dont know, it is an amazing water balloon fight with almost 20,000 waterballoons. Usually the whole 40 comes out for it, along with all the prospective freshmen. Get ready to get down and dirty!!!!!

Has anyone received an invitation to the Multicultural Weekend yet?

Think a white/Jewish girl who spent a semester in Israel would ever be invited to that?

do they only hand it out to the top people...or is it random...

salpert: HaHa...Uh, don't think so unfortunately....you'll just have to wait with the rest of the tribe.....(we had the same thing with the MOSAIC (multicultural) weekend at Vandy....kids at my d's school already heard; my d asked me why I didn't give birth in Brazil....)

Yeah, somehow I don't think Jews are quite the minority at WUSTL :)

O.o

I'd heard some people talking about this here on CC (maybe it was this thread lol), but I didn't know it was for prospective freshmen. Anyone know if they send out invitations to students who got in ED? Or is it to get prospective RD students to attend WUSTL?

omg, this makes me nervous...i wish i hadn't come across this thread at this point...lol

honestly, why does everything have to be about minorities?

culture is more than just being born with a certain skin color/heritage. is this invitation/advanced acceptance honestly just for minorities?

if they're going to do it at all, then i could understand merit or clear acceptances. i'm just tired of uncontrolable factors such as foreign status/skin color being put in the mix.

if everything was about minorities, you wouldn't have a chance to get into washu. so just chill.

i'm not saying my chance is directly related to minority status, but it's completely ridiculous that having a minority status can help someone.

you can't deny that they use minority status in evaluating candidates. schools are pretty open about it. i think it's a ridiculous reaction in a hope of "curing racism"
