Shoot… i just chcked mine and it says i need proof of citizenship before they can tell me how much they can offer me. Does that mean my application is late and that i’ll get less aid???

Thank you to all who helped me navigate to my daughter’s financial aid award. I am pretty shocked as you are Nick10. Our need was calculated at close to the entire $50,000 and the award was just a small scholarship. SFU is no longer a possibility for us either. I am glad other schools have been more reasonable. I will keep my fingers crossed your son is admitted to the school in Italy, Nick10.

My daughter’s is only listing her scholarship. I do not think they have completed everything yet. They should at least have offered stafford loans. Any thoughts?

Nick10, I got the $9000 merit scholarship, a $5700 tuition grant, and an estimated $4800 from work study. The rest are loans. It adds up to about 25K of the 30K I need. I might be able to make it work, but I’m waiting for my financial aid package from NYU to see if I have any leverage.

Loyalty: your EFC must be really low. I’m nothing close to your package. i was expecting some work study, but got none. I want to work at school

funwithme, all I got are loans!!! That’s it. Is that what you got?

bfraz…that’s all that was listed for my daughter also. I hope you are right and there may be more to come.

merit scholarship and Stafford Loans.

If that’s all there is, then we will pass.

I just received a merit award of $9000. I’m staying home, so I’ll save about $11,000. Hopefully, they’ll give me enough, so I can go. May 1st is approaching and I’m anxious to look at that financial aid package!

After reading some posts, I did as some users suggested and checked online. Since I’m staying home, my cost of attendance is considerably cheaper. I got a couple of grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans, federal work study, my merit award, and the Cal Grant, which is… surprisingly a lot. With this financial aid, I think I’ll be able to afford USF.

The financial aid package got updated. Dont lose hope. Check online again, momof3D and nick10. It is generous package. Unbelievable !!

Hi funwithme, when did your package get updated? I just checked usf connect and it is the same as Friday. I even called them on Friday and told them just how I felt about the package, RIDICULOUS! On top of EFC of 33K they have left unmet need as 22K+, the only thing they “gave” are loans. CRAZY! So, I think that’s it for me. You are very fortunate to get what you got. I can’t believe my son didn’t get any scholarships, his gpa is, as of his junior year, 3.5, and has gone up this present school year even with 2 AP classes and a college-level English class.

I just got my financial statement today…USF was pretty generous, but I still have about $8000 in unmet finances.

I was somewhat surprised that they didn’t give any grant whatsoever from the school itself…the only sort of grant I got from them was the University Scholar’s scholarship. Everything else is from the gov’t.

Btw-according to my letter, their online system is undergoing a system maintenance thing right now, so from April 1-April 4, your online financial status might not change at all.

mynameisb0b, congrats on your $; that is very good. Of course, we got nothing from the gov’t except loans, so USF is out of the running. Amazing how it was just a week ago the #1 choice and now it is not even a consideration.

Thanks Nick10. I’m really sorry USF isn’t even a choice for you anymore-I was hoping to meet you and everyone on this board there : (

i got my letter in the mail yesterday,40k merit/university grants/work study, had 4000 in loans, and 9000 unmet, but the letter didnt reflect my cal grants yet, which should be around 5500. So USF is now my #1 choice school. So out of pocket right now is about 4000/year. not too bad. Im glad i went to a sfsu and transfered though… much cheaper and i get the USF degree in the end.

I got $7000 in merit scholarship, $18,000 in grants (I know, it’s a lot), $4800 in work study and $5500 in loans. Too bad they don’t have the program I want.

Funwithme- you were right. D’s package was updated yesterday and it is decent. We had an error on a form which delayed the final package. Only problem now is that she visited Seattle U (for Nursing Program also) and liked it alot. Now the
dilemma is which school to accept at, and decision deadline is coming up so soon. Equal financial aid and she was very impressed with both programs and schools. Any help out there?

Here’s the thread from last year in case anyone wants to take a gander. Like I said it seems like they’re stingy on aid.
