USF-St. Petersburg Campus

Can anyone give some info on the St. Pete campus? We know it does not offer many majors, but looks like it gives more of a smaller community feel. The pics shown on the website are pretty with the dorms being right on the water. Been to the main campus in Tampa, but never looked into this one. Seems appealing.

I attend USF in Tampa, but I am familiar with downtown St. Pete where the USF-St. Pete campus is located. I actually like the St. Pete campus. It is a small campus on the south edge of downtown St. Pete. A student attending the school in St. Pete is going to either hate it, or love it–I don’t think there is a middle ground. The school has a next to new dorm/apt. bldg that is a convenient location for walking to classes and all of downtown St. Pete and the watershore area on St. Pete side of Tampa Bay. Downtown St. Pete is pretty informal during the business week–businessmen in suits walking next to folks walking around in shorts. Most weekends there are festivals or other events in the downtown parks near the water that are an easy walk from the campus. On the weekend lots of activities like bicycle clubs, running clubs meet and run and bike around town. There is a public beach at North Shore Park along with a 50 meter swimming pool. Lots of restaurants and shops are in the area as well as essentials like a new Publix grocery store–all easy walks. You can even walk (kinda long walk) to Tropicanna Field where the Rays MLB team plays. USF even has a varsity sailing club that operates at the campus for athletic types.

The admissions criteria are a little more flexible for USF-St. Pete than Tampa. Too, I am pretty sure that USF-St. Pete students can enroll in Tampa classes if needed. Hope this helps some.

I guess we’ll have to take a ride out there to really get a feel for it. We saw the Tampa campus and are familiar with the area over that end. Is the reason to like or hate it due to the small size? If so, I think that may be appealing. It’s just all individual taste I guess. Thanks for the info!

USF’s main campus in gritty Tampa is a large spread out campus in the middle of a lot of hustle and bustle. USF-St. Pete is way smaller, in a quieter location with a smaller number of program offerings. The schools are night and day different. Still, USF-St. Pete has a lot to offer–definitely check it out. Attached is info on downtown St. Pete with an event calendar.
“Lizard” pretty much hit it on the head - USFSP is a beautiful and small campus - you can get to know your professors in an environment that is much like a private school, with a beautiful downtown location that is on the water. Worth a visit for sure!

Accepted, so visiting this weekend. Thanks for the info!

Did you have a nice visit - what did you think???

if i am deffered from tampa can i apply to st pete?

also what are the needed stats for USF st pete…?

i have a 23 act and 3.4 gpa 3.6 weighted

which should i apply to?

THANKS

@robby2306 Apply to both. You’ve got nothing to lose and I think you’d get into St Pete without a problem.

Thanks… I heard you cannot apply to both at the same time though !

I wish i could apply to both how do i do that?

I was told you can only apply to one at a time. I already applied to tampa amd if defered could submit a change form and if denied you are denied from all systems

If you don’t mind going to either Tampa or St Pete, I say wait on Tampa’s decision. If you get accepted, go to Tampa. If you get deferred, change your campus to St Pete.

If you’re afraid that not getting into USF Tampa will affect your chances at USF St Pete, do the change form now and apply to USF St Pete since it’s a bit easier to get into USF St Pete than Tampa.

Personally, it’s up to you. It really does suck that you can’t apply to both as separate schools, but either way, I don’t doubt that you’ll get into Tampa. I’ve seen people with lower stats get in.

thanks i hope so i just dont know why its taking so long…

i just submitted a new transcript that is a 3.4 and 3.6 uw/ w gpa

i also got my act back yesturday and superscored = 24

thanks for the replys and advice!

also i agree i hope to get into Tampa but ethier way i dont think i will be outright denied. if anythng deffered. and from the deffered state ill change it to st pete and hope to get in there!!
