Just wondering...has anyone ever used IMACS to learn AP Computer Science and successfully get a 5 on the AP test? I took the course through a virtual high school this year and we used IMACS lessons to complement the class. It seems like a great resource on its own, which is why I'm asking.

At the moment, I am also going through the "Be Prepared for the AP Computer Science Exam" study guide on IMACS, so if anyone has used this, was it sufficient on its own without a separate study guide (ex. Barrons), especially on GridWorld review sections?

Yes I have used IMACS. However, it came to me free by taking FLVS AP Computer Science (If you live in Florida it is free to take any courses on FLVS). I can say while IMACS consisted as a majority of my curriculum and has great practice tests and resources, that in general I didn’t like the assignments (which I didn’t have to do for my computer science class). I know that FLVS has an over 80% pass rate for AP Computer Science if you live in Florida (or if you can get your parents/school to pay for it).
But to focus on the IMACS itself-- yes it teaches you everything you need to know for the exam and provides little practice exercises, but I felt like there wasn’t enough practice making full scale programs (FLVS had us submit programs we made in BlueJ). IMACS will teach you the material, but you might want to use codingbat.com or some other practice website to really practice it, and possibly a review book might help (although I didn’t use the one I bought). (I am referring to the eimacs Computer Science A course)

Sorry my post is kind of convoluted. Hope I helped :)

Thank you @outlander545! Yeah, I am currently taking an online class that uses much of the FLVS curriculum and IMACS was free. Just like you, we didn’t really do the IMACS exercises, just the SEVERAL assignments in BlueJ. Hopefully all those assignments and a little bit of review this weekend gets me a 5 on the AP test…

well I felt that taking some of the practice MC on eImacs really helped. And you might want to practice the FRQ from previous tests. But FLVS does a great job of teaching the material I think as long as you actually read the IMACS.
