I was wondering whether it is possible to use scholarship money for anything other than what’s automatically charged to my.vt.edu. For example, I can get a meal plan despite being off campus, but is there a way to use that money to pay for books at the bookstore, put it on my hokie passport, use it to pay rent off campus, etc? Thanks.
If you have money leftover from your scholarship after tuition/fees/etc are charged to your account, you’ll get that money in the form of a refund. If you have direct deposit set up, the refund will be deposited into your bank account, and you are able to use those funds for whatever.
Source: I always had leftover money from financial aid/scholarships and had a refund each semester, it usually would come in the week before classes started.
