I wonder what Donna Shalala and Gloria Estefan have to say about UM football program troubles?

“^&^^%&(**&^^%#@$”- or something like that.

Meanwhile Oregon is just saying “lay low and this might all blow over”.

USC and PAC-12 commish is watching this very closely…the NCAA infractions committee head is the former AD at Miami. I imagine he’ll be stepping down soon.

Plus head of NCAA is former Udub President with little Oregon love I expect. He had to aplogize for some nasty things his UW AD said about Oregon last year.

Sure I’d look at Oregon…I doubt Phil Knight’s money only went to building world class athletic facilities and ugly uniforms.

I care about rankings, because I am shallow ;)

There are reasons why Harvard is the best school. There are reasons why it has high selectivity. There are reasons why it is favored and known by almost the whole world across any continent. So just deal with it.

Wow 13 days – countdown to college football!!!

This is the year Bowling Green finally cracks the top 25. I can’t wait to see it in print!

rjkofnovi,

“As a Buckeye supporter you really shouldn’t be commenting too much about what is going to happen to Miami. The NCAA isn’t through with your alma mater yet!”

Oh yeah, that’s right!!! Thanks for the reminder!! Henceforth, I will be rooting for State, and will certainly be watching the game on Oct the 15th.

Go Green!!! lol

^^^^^^So if the Spartans and Buckeyes meet for the B10 championship, who do you root for?

^^ Whichever school has the better chance of winning the BIG TEN if not the MNC. :)

Given current financial endowment information, percent admitted statistics for 2011, yield percentage and other factors it would appear that a few of the liberal arts colleges in the USNWP 10 top ten list may slide down a few places. I would not be surprised if Smith College and Claremont McKenna move up a few slots. At this level it is not necessarily that one school is academically or otherwise superior, rather that the USNWP methodology which relies on endowment, capital improvements, admitted students yield and other factors make dictate a new top 10 as it were.

“Whichever school has the better chance of winning the BIG TEN if not the MNC”

Well since tOSU will more than likely be put on probation and have a bowl ban this year, the choice will be obvious.

The admission rates for 2011 are NOT relevant to the upcoming edition. Without seeing the methodology used by Morse this year, we cannot be sure that yield will be included in the criteria.

Fwiw, admission rates and yield have little to no importance to Smith’s ranking. The rankings have remained quite oblivious to Smith’s extremely high admission rates for years. All they lose with one of the lowest selectivity indexes is gained back (and some) through the arcane work of the expected graduation “bonus.” It helps Smith to be considered below the most selective mark.

A change in its Peer Assessment, on the other hand, is what creates most of the potential movement inside (or outside) the top 20 LACs.

When is this coming out?

In 1.5 hours, supposedly.

Endowment information doesn’t matter either. It’s a “faculty resources” and “financial resources rank”, which includes average faculty salaries, “average spending per full-time-equivalent student on instruction, research, public service, academic support, student services, institutional support, and operations and maintenance (for public institutions only) during the 2008 and 2009 fiscal years”, and alumni giving percentage.

All this ranking does is reward potentially frivolous spending.

in response to post #347:

of course Clemson should be #3 duh :)
