USPS or UPS...taking bets!

Mailed USPS last Tuesday, a package (priority mail), and it arrived 3,000 miles away on Friday.

@BunsenBurner signatures? Hahahaha! Fed Ex left a computer sitting on our front porch. No signature required…they didn’t even ring the doorbell….I was home!

That’s how we knew the spam email from “fed ex” was spam. It mentioned something about needing a signature. We haven’t been asked for one in years.

The weekend deliveries help the delivery companies to keep the pipeline moving. Mondays are always difficult and having some packages moving over the weekend is a big help.

I’m in ecommerce and this shipping situation is a daily concern.

There’s a new UPS driver on our route who I wish could be cloned. Last week when we had an Amazon return pick up scheduled, I left a package of cookies with a note for him just to let him know we appreciate him.

As for USPS, we no longer have the same regular mail carrier who did a good job. There have been a number of different substitutes, resulting in a big increase in posts on the neighborhood Facebook page about misdelivered/missing mail.

We have this as well! Currently missing a Poshmark delivery :rage:.

We had the same carrier for almost 20 years and he did a fabulous job. He’s sorely missed.

We had the same usps carrier for many years. She was just going to retire but sadly her vehicle hit a pole which fell on her and she died just before she was going to retire. We never learned if something (like stroke or heart attack) caused her to hit the pole. It was very sad—she was very well liked and greatly missed.

We also had the same ups driver for many many years but he finally retired and now we get many random drivers that don’t know the addresses or neighborhoods nearly as well.

Effective January 9, 2022:

• Remote Area Surcharge will now apply to deliveries to certain ZIP Codes in the 48 contiguous states, as well as UPS On-Call Pickup requests in those ZIP Codes. The Remote Area Surcharge also applies to certain ZIP codes in Alaska and Hawaii, as it has in the past.

I am very happy with USPS! I mailed a package from Northern Mississippi to Florida with D2 & D3’s gifts. It wasn’t very big, just 4.5 lbs. I mailed it Priority. It got there in 48 hours - a day before they said it would be delivered!!!

My DD lives in a new part of a development and has not gotten UPS packages because somehow their street and house isn’t on Google Maps. They get sent back with the “no such address” message. It has been frustrating for her.

I prayed many prayers to St. Jude that the package would arrive fast and safe. I am sure that mailing it early helped.

Love the St. Jude reference. My grandmother, who would have turned 122 this week if she was alive, always had St. Jude as her favorite saint. We always joked about what little she must have thought of us, since she asked the Patron Saint of Lost Causes for help!

UPS “delivered” my Nordstrom order at 10:39 pm (!!!) while we were home… no vehicles of any sort or any people appeared in our driveway at that time. I quickly ran out and checked every neighbor’s porch. Nothing. Checked with the neighbors next day. Nothing. The package was likely stolen or lost.
Nordstrom refunded my $$, but the dress I ordered is already sold out. Grrrrr….

We have a new Fed Ex facility in our area and they are quick.

I put out a bowl of water bottles, Nature Valley bars, and commercially wrapped brownies. Let’s just say, “The Fed Ex driver rewarded himself/herself well.”

I bought items from Talbots from my mom and mother in law.

Talbots uses smart post or whatever it’s called. They were shipped a week ago. No idea where they are now or when they will be delivered.

Talbots shipping is terrible. Do not recommend

For the last 5 years 5 years, we have exchanged Christmas packages with a German exchange student family. First 3 years, there were no problems with package delivery. Most recent 2 years (including 1 pre-Covid, there were significant delays with each package. Our most recent one made it to Germany but then was sent to Brazil where it sat for 2+ months before finally making it back to Germany. This year the families agreed we will send them some time in the spring to avoid the December holiday mess.

You all might remember my African package saga. When our kid was in the PC 2010-2012 we mailed her a package every month. Used USPS fixed rate boxes which are more expensive for international but are fixed! Every package got there but one.

Five years later…five….that package appeared in our mailbox. God knows where it hung out in Rwanda for 5 years…but it was in perfect shape. It contained cat things…and the kitty was living here by then…win.

As some of you know, when you mail internationally, you have to indicate if you want the package returned if not deliverable, and if you do, you need to agree to pay the return postage. We said NO. But it came back anyway…at no charge.

@BunsenBurner FedEx “delivered” an order at noon, but there is no record of them on my garage or front door camera, they did stop next door and deliver her package, my other neighbor saw them drive by my home, and no neighbors have it.

I got USPS an hour before and UPS an hour later!

I flied a claim, even worse is the USPS doing that, when they say “proof” of delivery is that the driver said so, it makes me crazy.

Maybe some of our packages were similarly “delivered.”

I’ve had that happen before with FedEx but the package was hidden under my porch swing a couple of times and once by a side door that I barely remember exists. Neither spot is in a spot triggered by camera if you approach from The side. A coworker had the same thing happen and they put it in the back yard by the swing set. I appreciate them trying to fool porch pirates but what the heck?

We’re seeing more packages being marked delivered when actually UPS or FedEx has just turned them over to USPS for delivery to us. It’s often two or three days before we get them, if they’re delivered.

In my situation, it was clearly not the case. I doubt they would mark the transfer to USPS as “front door.”

I have a front gate so if it was inside the yard, the camera would trigger, and if he was anywhere near the gate, the outer camera would trigger. Usually Fedex leaves it just outside the gate.

I had three missed calls from Fedex quite early the other morning, but no messages. Fingers crossed they call again!
