USPS or UPS...taking bets!

Exactly what a USPS driver did in my area!

I have something coming UPS. I got a message that a transportation accident has delayed delivery. That is a first for me.

The other day I complained via email to Godiva I had not heard anything about the shipping of Godiva chocolates I bought 12/5. Later that day, I got a notice it was shipped and a day later it was received in VA/DC, where I wanted it delivered! Yay! Coincidence of squeaky wheel? I don’t care, I’m happy!

Yesterday I got an email that stated, “Your item was delivered to an individual at the address at 4:31 pm on December 10, 2021…” Uh, no, it wasn’t! We were in our office close to the front door.

I was nervous until I went out to the mail box and found the item (my mom’s will, which the attorney had sent requesting confirmation of receipt) - there was a handwritten note on the front, “CV-19, no contact.” Huh, OK…

I bought a bunch of stuff at The Outnet during their super BF sale. They always ship everything “signature required,” which in the past was a pain. I thought UPS would drop the box like they did with our wine orders, but the guy actually knocked on the door and waited for someone to show up. Guess Covid is over…

Lucky us. We got an email saying a package was delivered from a place where we ordered to one of our kids…and it was! UPS.

Yesterday I put two packages in the mail to AZ from CT. USPS. Priority mail but not fixed rate. They said the packages will be there Tuesday or Wednesday :crossed_fingers:t2:

Husband was expecting an insured repair return via USPS. System was saying it should arrive Monday. Today he got a notice that it was undeliverable at 6:15 am. He called the post office and they claimed it was something like dog or locked gate. There is nothing to interfere with our front porch. Husband asked, could it be signature required and they said no.

Lo and behold, this afternoon our excellent mail carrier rings the doorbell and she has the package. It does require a signature, but she is only allowed to get a verbal acceptance, no writing implements allowed. She said the seasonal employees go out with USPS deliveries at 5:30 am so the regular carriers don’t have to deal with big packages.

It would seem that it was undeliverable by the seasonal help because they probably don’t knock on doors at 6:00 am and thereabouts.

Incidentally, this is the same postal carrier that saw a Fed Ex package last year with my name and address left on a porch up the street, picked it up, and brought it to our door to see if it was for me. We are delighted to have her deliver our mail.

Our mail carrier is so slow she sometimes has other people helping her with the route—no hills, no locked gates, I don’t get it.

The old carrier had no issues.

I still don’t understand why I can mail a package on Thursday UPS ground and it’s expected to be delivered on Tuesday for $123. They ship a similar package to me from AZ and have a volume commercial account and pay >$200 and I don’t know when it will arrive.

Wow—the 40 pound box I shipped via ground rate UPS on Thursday from HNL has already been received at Glendale AZ and was signed by someone at the facility. I’m impressed!

I ordered 2 boxes of wine glasses from Costco (even with built in shipping, they were cheaper than the same stuff on super sale at Macy’s!). None of our warehouses have them in stock, so had to be ordered online. Make your bets if they come as promised on Wednesday, and how many glasses UPS will break! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I also ordered Godiva chocolates on 12/5. They was no update on when they would be shipped so I complained on 12/10 and was given a nonanswer. Lo and behold it was suddenly shipped UPS on 12/10 and received on 12/11. S said it was shockingly heavy. I suggested he open it to check contents.

Ordered a fruit tower fromCostco on 12/10. It was shipped right away and received in CA on 12/13, in the morning.

Thanks for information about the Costco towers. Procrastinating me will be ordering today or tomorrow. I’m okay with late Dec. arrival though. Fun to give/get treat packages anytime.

Yes, we have both received and given the Costco fruit towers. The price is pretty reasonable (cheaper than many competitors), and the recipient get a lot more for the same price.

Wow. Thank you Costco and UPS. I was informed of our orders, routing, and delivery status all along the way. All items were delivered to multiple recipients when estimated, or before - and much faster than I expected given the holiday crunch.

My Target order was not so smooth. The routing information was worthless, as the number did not correspond to any of the (5) major carriers used by Target. The order page shows a bar graph to indicate timing, but it never moved. When I tried to confirm with Target via “chat”, the customer service agent told me several options within the same conversation.

  1. The order was lost and will be canceled. I suggested that it was not lost. I only wanted to track it, but I needed to know which carrier they were using.

  2. He would cancel my order, and if it arrives, I can keep it. Again I asked which carrier they were using. He gave me a name, but it was incorrect, so I found a similar carrier and tried the tracking number, but it was invalid there too.

  3. He then said my order may arrive 2 days later than the original estimate.

So ultimately, we decided to just be surprised.

It did arrive later than expected, but not by weeks or months as some others have experienced with different companies. However DH now refuses to order from Target again, primarily because there was no way to track, and no way to confirm with customer assistance.

I should have accepted alternate 2.

Wow, Amazon and usps. I had guessed I would not get the package with the game that did not arrive as the website had predicted on 12/24. It was in the mailbox today, 12/25! Amazing!

Thanks USPS for walking my box Ito the wet carport—glad H found it before the contents of the box were as wet as the I side of the box. It’s interesting that I got my box of spices in Hi while my niece who lives in WA, which is closer to WI is still awaiting her box, which was ordered earlier.
