USPS or UPS...taking bets!

Priority mail is not guaranteed in the 2-3 day window, especially in December or when there are weather delays. You have to pay for express mail.

It is nice because you can track it.

Was ok with it not making it in 2 days… but 2 weeks??? To travel less than 350 miles? It could have walked here faster.

@twoinanddone you can track priority mail too.

I’m still waiting on two Christmas gifts for my son. I can track them both but at this point they are just showing “arriving late” - last locations notes indicate they are probably sitting here in Toledo or Detroit - for days.

One of those packages originated in Columbus, 2ish hours always. It went Columbus >Cleveland>Toledo >Detroit>Pontiac >Detroit . Yes it was here at one time but passed up to Detroit!

I meant priority mail has the benefit of tracking over regular mail. The poster said there was no benefit over a regular $.55 stamp if priority mail was going to take 10 days or more. I do think USPS should change the 2-3 day guideline to 3-5 days, then people would be happy if it made it in 2 days.

I love tracking my priority packages.

My package finally moved! I ordered on Amazon 12/12 (but from a private seller not distributed by Amazon). It was supposed to be deliver to me (in CA) between 12/18 and 12/22. It arrived at a carrier facility in N Canton Ohio on 12/14. No movement until today! It arrived at a carrier facility in Akron, Ohio. At least it is moving!

I dropped off two Priority Mail Regional Rate A boxes at the local post office In San Diego on Monday about noon. They were just both delivered in Madison WI and Brooklyn NY. I’m impressed and my niece and nephew can each enjoy fresh California lemons :lemon:.

I sent a package to my daughter on December 15. She received it yesterday. Thank goodness I sent it priority mail.

I sent in a prescription first class on December 16, it never arrived.

An Etsy seller sent a package first class on December 16, it never arrived. She claims she will resend the gift.

Just received my package from Macy’s sent on 12/10 , they had refunded my purchase.

Still waiting for packages I ordered Dec 6th and sent USPS.

I got a Christmas card yesterday that was postmarked December 15.

The package my sister-in-law sent by Priority Mail on December 11th from Maryland to Connecticut arrived today (January 9th). The package I mailed to her on December 14th (also Priority Mail) arrived on Christmas Eve. I’m just glad they both arrived.

My sister’s yardwork helper finally found her priority Xmas box in the bushes a few days after Christmas. It was sent priority as she was going to be alone on Xmas. I had no time to look at the tracking. Last Friday my birthday card arrived from France, mailed by friends November 20th. My card to Sydney, Aust mailed around December 10th had not arrived as of last week, though my niece at the same address sent her Etsy cards and book which arrived in 2 weeks. So much for the old days of reliable mail. My grandmother in Scotland used to bemoan the poor daily service in the 1960s, as previously mail was delivered twice a day.

My DIL’s gift got returned to the shipper as undeliverable. Even though they had the correct address. :frowning:

Well, I have had two USPS problems this week. An important envelope that I mailed on 12/5 has still not arrived (regular first class). A priority envelope I mailed on 1/4 (needed it to get there in a couple of days) is listed as delayed over a week later.

I prefer the UPS fixed rate boxes always had it delivered it on time

Generally I like UPS - I have shipped dozens of boxes to my daughter via UPS over the past 8 1/2 years. The box which I send by ground always gets there next day (NJ to Boston). I had only one lost box in all that time (of course the one with the nonrefundable gift cards), but otherwise I have no complaints with their service.

Interesting I got this email today
Your Bank of America mail sent through the United States Postal Service may be delayed

I also received the BOA email. Seeing as how USPS has been delayed for several months, I figured it was more of a BOA ploy to get people to switch to paperless, which is what they were pushing in the email.

I had ordered 4 boxes of very thing, fragile foam ceiling tiles. Yesterday 2 were delivered USPS; 2 by UPS. All were marked with “Fragile” stickers all over the large boxes. The USPS were crushed, dented, and bashed in. UPS boxes were in pristine condition.
