UT arlington transfer admission help

Hey everyone, I’m currently enrolled at Tarrant County College and am about to meet the minimum required credits to transfer to UT arlington (24 credits)… I was just curious: what were your grades/stats when applying as a transfer student at this school? I read online the minimum transferable (UTA website) gpa was 2.25. Which I definitely have, but does that guarantee admission? I had failed a class I took over 5+ years ago, and although I’m not including that in my 24 transferable credits I know it will still affect my gpa bringing it down a bit. I think right now with that F, i have a 2.9 or a 3.0 at my community college… is it even possible for me to get into UTA? Should I wait and apply after I take more classes and raise my GPA? I am pretty upset at my younger self for not taking advantage the first time I decided to start school. Please don’t be negative but be truthful or give constructive advice.

Thank you!

  • hopefully a future mav.

@collegenoob I think you will be fine. I know of a student who had to withdraw from their university freshman year and had all W’s for spring. The only GPA they had was from fall, which was a 2.44. Because UTA did not have the same major from the original university, only 3 of those hours actually transferred to UTA for credit and the student was able to use their AP test scores.
