Hello! I wanted to make a thread for aspiring transfers who are planning on applying for UT in Fall 2019. Feel free to list any concerns or questions
Anyone know how competitive political communication at moody is? i’m putting that as my first choice and government as my second also can anyone chance me?
gpa: not finished yet but worst case scenario 3.7 best case 4.0
hours: 30 by the end of spring but i have 32 AP credits so idk if that factors in
ECs: mostly high school stuff but i’ve worked a lot of jobs, and i’m starting to intern at a law firm. i’m also the head of social media at one of my clubs on campus
@longhorndaddy Moody is generally less competitive compared to the other majors at UT. On the external transfer website, the only thing they require of you is whatever that is on the application: https://moody.utexas.edu/prospective/external-transfer
I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting in, just make sure you write some strong essays!
I haven’t heard back bc their response required my final transcript, so I sent it over after the semester ended, & they received it, but the message that its required still hasn’t gone away. Anybody else dealing with this?!
The transfer requirement for CNS states that students have to:
“Submit an essay addressing Topic A that describes how the intended major would impact achievement of your educational and career goals”
http://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/transfer-admission#fndtn-transfer-admission-major-specific-requirements-by-school
- Are they talking about Essay A or a separate essay?
- How did y'all go about addressing it in your essay?
Applied to Moody as a Fall transfer!! Hoping for the best
what major brother
Hello! I got exciting reading that people are applying to Moody (ME TOO) so I decided to make an account already. I put Journalism as my first choice and English as my second but idk I might change that one. I currently have 46 hours with a 3.8 gpa. I kept up with the 2017/2018 fall thread and I was actually surprised to see some of the results. I hope it works out for everyone!
@longhorndaddy Public relations 1st choice, advertising 2nd
Hey y’all! I want to transfer to the College of Education! I currently have a 3.57 GPA. Does anyone know if there’s pre reqs or anything? Is there a list of classes they want or???
Hi, I am applying to Moody too, as an Advertising major for Fall 2019. My gpa is 4.0 with 36 credit hours. I am pretty nervous about my chances. I read that some people from last year weren’t accepted because the vast majority of the spots were already filled by freshman applicants.
oof i hope that isn’t true. but i think with a 4.0 we should be good, or at least higher priority than others.
Do you have any withdraws? I have two. I wonder if those play a factor in chances of acceptance.
You have to tailor your essay Topic A to your desired major. Therefore, if you want to be a nurse, you should discuss your career goals in that field and you should point to specific professors and programs you would like to work with at UT.
nope, but i’ve only done one semester at college. i should have 30 when i finish this semester plus like 20 credits from AP.
I’m applying to McCombs for accounting and im a nervous wreck about my chances. i went to school for 4 years before dropping out with a 2.6 GPA. That was 7 years ago, ive been at ACC for two years now and have a 4.0. Im hoping that being older and having work experience will work in my favor. I’m also hoping the amount of time passed between then and now is enough for them to have confidence in me. I know UT doesn’t like admitting people with lots of credits, so i might be screwed on that alone. My essays and recommendations are strong. I have all A’s for calc 1 and 2, both accounting courses and both econ courses. we’ll see if its enough.
Hello! There are no pre reqs for Education!
Anyone applying as Health & society major under Liberal arts?
Hi, I applied to McCombs for Finance as my first choice and Economics as my second. I am currently a Finance major at another UT System school and I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on my chances for admission. I got a 4.0 (16 credit hrs) in the Fall 2018 semester and I would say there is a pretty good chance I’ll get another one this semester (Spring 2019). I took Cal 1 last semester and took Macro over winter break as a mini-mester at a community college while home on break (I got an A in the class). I am currently taking Cal 2 and Micro this semester and from what I understand UT will wait until you finish your current semester to determine their decision. To me, everything seems to be good there, but here’s my issue. My junior year of high school I took 2 English dual credit classes and earned a B in both. Then, the summer before I left for college I took another 2 classes (Government and Precal) and earned another 2 B’s due to conflicts with my work schedule that summer. I did explain why I got took those summer classes in one of the admissions essays and the reason I earned the bad grades but I’m still very skeptical about getting accepted. I have some good EC’s and LOR related to my field, but in the end, those DC and summer classes might have screwed me over. What do y’all think?
