Transfer Lone Star CC to UT Austin Fall 2015

I’m applying to transfer Fall 2015 from Lone Stat CC to Moody College of Communications. My GPA is 3.5 currently but will be around 3.7 or higher by the end of the summer. I have 15 credits and will have about 30 but the end of the summer as well. I have one strong essay, and one okay essay and two recommendation letters from my high school teacher and also a RN. And I’m on the President’s List. I’m wondering if I have a good enough chance or if there any room for improvement that I should take in? Help me out Longhorns!

Another thing, would I have a better chance transferring in the spring instead??

@MAA786‌ I’m applying to Moody for Fall 2015 as well! In order to be accepted for next fall I believe you need to have 30 hours or more complete by the end of this (Spring 2015) semester to be considered for admission. I don’t think they will accept summer credit for Fall 2015 admission. All admissions will be sent out by mid June from UT for next fall hence why they don’t accept summer credit.

I hope this helped! Also what are you applying for in Moody? If you do choose the Spring 2016 route there are some majors within Moody that only allow Fall transfers!

Thanks, you definitely helped!

I’m applying for public relations and my second choice is Global Studies at COLA. Do I have a good enough GPA to still be considered for Moody College? Or even COLA? I’ve heard you need a 3.7 or higher for Moody College, but I think I still have a chance.

What are you majoring in?

@cdctransfer

@MAA786‌ I’m applying with 54 hours complete at a 3.65 to Radio, Television, and Film! There is no GPA you need per say but for Moody I would strongly suggest the higher the better. UT is really stressing holistic admissions now so they factor in everything (GPA, Essays, Resume, Essay, etc.) It all really depends on the applicant pool for the major you’re applying for. The one thing you don’t have control of.

I think you have a very good shot for Moody. I’ve heard that essays are more important in Comm. compared to other schools. A really good way to ensure acceptance into UT is to put COLA Undeclared as your backup. If you’re only at 30 hours you could look at possibly doing an internal transfer once there.

Hope all of that helped!

@cdctransfer‌ Alright thanks! And you seem like you have a good chance in getting in too with your GPA. Hope we both get in!

The admissions is mostly first come first serve when it comes to the accepting process, right?

@MAA786‌ Thanks! And UT doesn’t do rolling admissions like most schools. Since they have such a large amount of people that apply for transfer compared to other colleges (around 8,000) they like knowing their whole applicant pool. The generally release all admissions information around the same time. At least that is what I have seen in the past.
